Huawei is continually investing in market-specific partnerships, developing localized solutions and conducting trials to ensure that India joins the ranks of other developed global economies in 5Gs commercial roll-out, the company said. On the first day of the “India Mobile Congress 2017″, Huawei highlighted its efforts in ensuring that the commercial roll-out of the 5G network in the country happens along with the developed global economies of the world.
The company, which began investing in 5G research in 2009, is aiming to invest $600 million in the technology by 2018. “The 5G era is approaching, and we are confident that 5G deployment in India will happen in line with the global timeline,” said Jay Chen, CEO, Huawei India. “Huawei continues to promote joint innovation with operators in the 5G field around the world and in India, and is joining hands with upstream and downstream industry partners to promote the sustainable development of the 5G industry,” Chen added. Huawei, together with Bharti Airtel, recently launched the country’s first massive multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) antenna technology implementations, which can potentially increase spectrum efficiency by six to ten times. The move will significantly decrease networking costs, enhancing intensive coverage and user experience in India. Last month, Huawei released its 5G-oriented mobile bearer solution ‘X-Haul’, which is now available in India. The solution will help operators in India build end-to-end 5G networks.
Interestingly timed just hours after the global launch of the Apple Watch Series 3, the Huawei Watch 2 has been launched in India. The smartwatch will come in three variants, a Sports version, which comes with Bluetooth connectivity, which is priced at Rs 20,999. A Classic version, which also supports Bluetooth, which is priced at Rs 25,999, and the Sports version, which comes with 4G connectivity, priced at Rs 29,999. All the variants comes in black color. While the Sports variant of Huawei Watch 2 will be available exclusively via Amazon India, the other two models will also be available via offline retails stores across the country. In comparison, the Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) will be available in Gold, Silver and Space Grey Aluminium, and Silver, with its price starting at Rs 29,900. Naturally, the highlight of the Huawei Watch 2 is the 4G LTE support, which essentially allows a user to send messages, and take calls, without needing to connect the watch with a smartphone. So it works standalone, too. As for specifications, the Huawei Watch 2 runs the latest version of Android Wear 2 and comes in two models. The Classic model comes with a metal chassis and features a hybrid leather band, which has leather on top and jointed rubber on the bottom. Whereas, the Sports variant has a far sportier design. LTE is exclusive to the Sports variant. Further, the new Huawei smartwatch is fuelled by a 420mAh battery with a new low power ‘watch mode’, which allows the smartwatch to last for 25 days, while still offering basic functions like telling time and counting steps. Under the hood, the Huawei Watch 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 2100 processor with 4GB of on-board storage, out of which only 2.3GB will be available for usage. For connectivity, other than LTE in the Sports model, the other variants also support NFC, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a heart rate sensor.
The Mate 9 successor has been awaited for a while now, and looking at the increased frequency of leaks, it seems we are getting closer to the final launch of the Huawei Mate 10 duo. The recent rumor, which is adding curiosity is a leaked render of the Huawei Mate 10 that shows off the smartphone in its full glory. According to a leak on Weibo, which was spotted by The Inquirer, this is the near-official render of the Mate 10 smartphone, giving us a fair idea of what the smartphone would look like. As per the render, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8, the Mate 10 will sport a full-screen display, with extremely narrow bezels on the top and bottom. This, according to the accompanying specs spillage, will be a 6.1-inch QHD AMOLED screen, and Huawei will be ditching the LCD panel used on last year’s Huawei Mate 9. Apart from the leak, the full-screen display was confirmed by Huawei as well, when the company boldly claimed that the upcoming device will “surpass” the Apple iPhone 8 with its bezel-less display. “The Mate 10 series will surpass Apple’s iPhone 8 as our phone will have much longer battery life, a full-screen display, much faster-charging speed, much better camera and photographic capability, as well as much better overall user experience,” claimed Richard Yu Chengdong, chief executive of Huawei’s consumer business group, as reported by the publication. Moving back to the renders, the images reveal a dual-camera setup at the back of the device, which is powered by Leica, and placed vertically. On the left of the dual-camera assembly sits the dual-LED flash. And right below the camera setup, the fingerprint sensor is placed. The back of the purported Mate 10 seems to be topped with a metal body, covered with matte finish. At the bottom, we can spot a USB Type-C port on the device, while the 3.5mm headphone jack seems to have been ditched. Specifications of the smartphone also reveal that the Huawei Mate 10 will be powered by Huawei’s Kirin 970 SoC, which the company claims can take on the Snapdragon 835 processor. The chipset will be accompanied by “at least” 6GB of RAM, 64GB storage, and microSD expansion up to 256GB.
Along with the Honor 8 Pro, Honor had also unveiled the Honor Band 3 for the Indian market. Weeks after the announcement the wearable will be going on sale from today via Amazon India. Priced at Rs 2,799, the smart band comes in dynamic orange, navy blue, and carbon black color options. The Honor Band 3 first debuted at the Honor 9 event in Berlin and fans have been waiting for its release ever since. In terms of design, the fitness band features a vertically aligned 0.91-inch PMOLED display offering a resolution of 128×32 pixels. The display shows notifications such as the time, heart-rate, and steps count. It has a 16mm wide strap made of thermoplastic polyurethane.
The Honor Band 3 also doubles up as a heart rate monitor while it performs other regular fitness functions such as record sleep patterns, steps, calories, distance and run. It has an infrared sensor and 3-axis accelerometer. The Honor Band 3 boasts of 5 Atm water resistance and can survive up to 50 meters under the water. It can be paired with smartphones running Android OS versions 4.4 and above or iOS 8 and above. Honor Band 3 users can view the recorded data via a companion app on their smartphone. Also, when paired with the smartphone, the Honor Band 3 can also view their smartphone notifications on the fitness band itself. As the company claims, the Honor Band 3′s battery can last for up to 30 days on a single charge. It weighs 18 grams, so it is ultra-light. The Band 3 come with 12-month service warranty while Honor also promises best-in-class after sale services to the consumers.
Indian telecom operators will start adopting 5G technology, which in present form can deliver up to 1000 mbps download speed, from this year, Huawei India CEO Jay Chen said today. “I can tell you massive MIMO (Multiple In Multiple Out) technology (part of 5G technology) will go to India this year. We have had discussions with leading telecom operators who are interested and right now it is only available with Huawei for commercial deployment,” Chen told PTI in an interview. He added that a wide-scale commercial deployment of 5G is expected to start in India in the next three years. “We even discussed 5G solution for business to business, business to consumer and business to home services with Bharti Airtel Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal. He was very impressed with it,” Chen said.
Mittal in an interaction with PTI had said the massive MIMO technology available with Huawei and ZTE can increase current capability of spectrum by up to 8 times at just additional cost of about 20 percent. Chen said that 5G standards are expected to be firmed up next year when wide scale commercial deployment of 5G will begin. “We have already deployed 4.5 G network in 13 circles across India which with minor upgrades can be transformed to 5G. With 4G subscriber base in India increasing, the download speed will reduce for which operators will need to begin start 4.5 G services,” Chen said.
He said that 5G will bring advanced technology which will change the way network coverage is provided to subscribers. “At present, subscribers runs to connect with the network. We are ready with pilots for multi MIMO technology that will follow subscribers. Dedicated spectrum frequency (beam forming) will connect with device of the subscribers and follow them wherever they go,” Chen said. He said the Indian industry is improving significantly with consolidation in the sector and end of spectrum shortage which provides good opportunity for telecom equipment companies. “Earlier there was spectrum scarcity in India. There were 13 operators who were involved in tariff war. Since last year we have not seen operators complaining about spectrum scarcity. Availability of spectrum gives them opportunity to deploy latest technologies like 5G. With Huawei we see this very positive move. Our growth has also improved in India in last two years,” Chen said. He said that Indian telecom operators are now moving in the direction where they can catch with rest of the world. On Tuesday, telecom secretary J S Deepak said that India lagged behind in adoption of 3G and 4G but it wants to catch with the world for 5G technology.
After months of anticipation filled with numerous leaks and rumors, Huawei has finally unveiled the P10 and P10 Plus smartphones. The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus smartphones come with Leica-engineered cameras, just like the last year’s Huawei P9 smartphone. The P10 series also comes with several improved features as compared to the predecessors. One of the notable additions is 4.5G LTE support featuring 4 antennas and is claimed to deliver 2X faster download speeds. Huawei has also focused on the design element for the P10 and P10 Plus smartphones. The smartphones feature a ‘Hyper Diamond-cut’ finishing which the company says prevents fingerprint marks, scratches, and also makes the smartphone non slippery. Huawei has gone bold with the different color options for the smartphone as it is available in eight different colors — Dazzling Gold, Prestige Gold, Ceramic White, Rose Gold, Graphite Black, Mystique Silver, Greenery and Dazzling Blue. Huawei has partnered with Pantone Color Institute for the Green and Blue color variants of the P10, P10 Plus smartphones. The smartphones, as rumored before, come with a physical Home button. Huawei has integrated an under-glass fingerprint scanner similar to the Xiaomi Mi 5s. While the Huawei P9 came with fingerprint sensor on the back, the sensor on the P10 has been moved to the front.
Huawei P10, P10 Plus Camera Huawei had a made a great deal about the Leica-branded camera in the last year’s Huawei P9. Though the camera performance of the smartphone was widely praised. Unsurprisingly, the Leica-branding has been retained on the P10 and P10 Plus smartphones.This time around, Huawei has taken things up a notch by making the front camera lens Leica engineered as well. Both the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus smartphones come with a pair of 20-megapixel Monochrome and 12-megapixel RGB sensors on the rear end. The rear camera on the Huawei P10 comes with f/2.2 aperture whereas the P10 Plus has f/1.8 aperture. Common camera features include Huawei Hybrid Zoom (2x), 4-in-1 Hybrid Auto-Focus, and Natural Bokeh Effect. Huawei P10 and P10 Plus rear cameras also come with the Pro mode which allows users to control elements like ISO and Shutter Speed among other things. The cameras also come with a ‘Macro Photography’ feature which the company says can click images of objects which aren’t clearly visible with the naked eye. For videography, the cameras come with 4K video recording capability and also compression up to 50 percent. Up front, the smartphones house an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/1.9 aperture. With the addition of Leica engineering, the smartphone comes with Leica Style Portraiture which uses the technology of 3D facial recognition and Studio Portrait Lighting effect. The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus smartphones come with a similar set of specifications but with a few differences. The Huawei P10 flaunts a 5.1-inch full HD LCD display whereas the Huawei P10 Plus comes with a bigger 5.5-inch Hi-Res Display. The Huawei P10 Plus comes with 2.5D Curved Glass and Gorilla Glass protection. Under the hood of the smartphones, runs an octa-core Kirin 960 processor paired with Mali-G71MP8. In terms of RAM and storage, the P10 smartphone comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The P10 Plus on the other hand comes in two variants – 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage and 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. The P10 smartphone is powered by a 3,200mAh battery and the P10 Plus is powered by a bigger 3,750mAh battery. Huawei says that the batteries for the P10 and P10 Plus smartphones come with super facing charging technology. The company claims that the 30 minutes of charging equals to a day’s usage of the smartphone. The smartphones offer connectivity options like dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/nac, USB Type-C support, and Bluetooth 4.2. On the software front, the P10 and P10 Plus both run on Android 7.1 Nougat with EMUI 5.1.
