Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge launch in India on 8th March and Price Starting at Rs. 45,000

Korean company Samsung Electronics is set to intensify its promotions in India by spending a record sum on marketing and promotion for the new flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge that will be launched 8th March 2016 in India. Both the flagships will be powered by the Exynos 8890.

India will be among the first country to get the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Both Smartphones were unveiled globally at the MWC, Barcelona in February.

Samsung is likely to invest about Rs. 100 crore on marketing its latest smartphones, which will be launched in India on March 8 and go on sale from the third week of March at prices that could match Apple’s iPhone 6s models.

Industry executives said Samsung may offer the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge at a cheaper rate than the Rs 50,000-plus launch price for last year’s flagship Galaxy S6. The company is looking at a price of about Rs 45,000 to compete with iPhone 6s that’s selling at Rs 44,000-45,000.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge Specification and Features:

The Galaxy S7 comes with a 5.1-inch QHD display while the S7 Edge opts for a bigger 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED unit. Although both the phones will be offered in Snapdragon and Exynos variants, in India we would see only the Exynos 8890 powered Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

On the imaging front, both the phones herald with a 12-Megapixel primary sensor along with LED flash OIS  and the front facing camera settles for a 5-Megapixel sensor. Thankfully Samsung has backtracked on its move to ditch the waterproofing feature and the expandable memory card slot in the Galaxy S6 and as a result the Galaxy S7 includes both of the features. The Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge both come with a Hybrid SIM slot that will double up as a microSD card slot.

Apart from that the phones bake in array of sensors inclusive of Heart Rate, fingerprint, barometer and the other standard sensors. The battery has also been bumped up to 3000mAh and will come with fast charging and wireless support. The Galaxy S7 Edge on the other hand comes with a 3600mAh battery which is justified considering the larger QHD display.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge will retail in Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, White Pearl and Silver Titanium colors and is expected to ship starting from March 11.
