Huawei
Terminal's Honor brand, as promised, on Monday unveiled its new Honor 8
smartphone at an event in China. The new smartphone will be available in China
starting July 19 and will come in three versions - CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs.
20,000) for the 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage model, CNY 2,299
(approximately Rs. 23,000) for the 4GB of RAM and 32GB storage model, and CNY
2,499 (approximately Rs. 25,000) for the 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage model. The
Honor 8 is currently up for pre-orders in China. The Chinese company has so far
not revealed availability plans for the Honor 8 outside China.
Honor 8
specifications and features:
The Honor 8 features a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p)
display, and is powered by a 1.8GHz Kirin 950 octa-core processor. There is
also a microSD card slot to further expand the internal memory.
The
highlight of the smartphone is the pair of 12-megapixel cameras at the back
with f/2.2 aperture, laser auto-focus and 1.76-micron pixel size, which
promises good quality photos even in low light conditions. The setup is quite
similar to what you get on Huawei’s flagship P9 smartphone. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel camera
with f/2.4 aperture.
The rest
of the features for the Honor 8 include a fingerprint scanner placed at the
back, 3,000mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM cards (hybrid
setup), 4G LTE support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a USB-Type C port. On the software
front, it runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 wrapped under Huawei’s EMUI
4.1.
