After launching the ZenFone 4 series in India, Asus has now unveiled the ZenFone V in the US. The device that has model number V520KL is listed on the official website. The ZenFone V smartphone will be available in the US via Verizon. There is no word on the availability or the price of the smartphone just yet. The new smartphone follows in line with the design and aesthetics of the ZenFone 4 series. The unibody designed smartphone has thick bezels above and below the display. While there are minimal bezels on the sides of the display. The bottom chin house the home button with a fingerprint scanner embedded into it along with capacitative navigation buttons. The upper region of the phone has the front camera, earpiece, and other sensors. On the back, rear camera can be seen with LED flash and the Asus logo positioned at the center followed by Verizon branding at the very bottom.

The ZenFone V has a 5.2-inch full HD AMOLED display offering a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The display further has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass on the top for protection. The smartphone is also supported by company’s Tru2life technology for better contrast ratios and readability. The ZenFone V is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 820 SoC paired with Adreno 530 GPU. The device has a 4GB RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage that can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. For photography, the smartphone comes with equipped with a 23-megapixel camera on the rear with f/2.0 aperture, Auto-Focus, OIS and dual-LED flash. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie snapper with a f/2.0 aperture. It houses a 3000mAh battery and runs Android 7.1 Nougat with ASUS ZenUI 3.0 custom OS on top. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers support for 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, AGPS, Micro-USB and 3.5mm audio jack. The ZenFone V comes in Sapphire Black color option.
Asus has today taken the wraps off its Zenfone 4-series of smartphones at a global launch event in Taiwan. The company has launched six different models under the new series – Zenfone 4, Zenfone 4 Pro, Zenfone 4 Max, Zenfone 4 Max Pro, Zenfone 4 Selfie, and Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro. However, the highlight of the event was the Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 4 Pro. The Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 4 Pro are the flagship devices, followed by the Zenfone Selfie and Zenfone Selfie Pro, which are mid-rangers with a focus on the front camera. The Zenfone Max and Zenfone Max Pro too are mid-range smartphones with their focus on the battery performance. Asus has currently revealed the price of only four models. The Zenfone 4 will start from $399 (Rs 25,500 approximately), while the Pro model will cost $599 (Rs 38,400 approximately). On the other hand, the Zenfone Selfie and Zenfone Selfie Pro will set you back by $279 and $379, which translates to roughly Rs 17,800 and Rs 24,300 respectively.

While the Zenfone 4 comes in two variants – one with Snapdragon 630 SoC, and one with Snapdragon 660 SoC. Both variants come with 6GB of RAM, and internal memory that can be expanded up to 64GB. Keeping the smartphones ticking are 3,300mAh and 3,6000mAh batteries respectively. On the camera front, the smartphones come with a 12-megapixel rear camera. As the names suggest, the Zenfone 4 Selfie, Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro smartphones come with their focus on the selfie camera. The Zenfone 4 Selfie comes with 20-megapixel front snapper, while the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro model comes with a 24-megapixel camera up front. However, only Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro smartphone users can take wide-angle selfies. Apart from this, the smartphones feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display, with the Pro variant featuring a full HD display, and the standard variant featuring an HD display. In terms of processor, the Pro-model is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, whereas the Zenfone Selfie comes with Snapdragon 430 SoC. Both the smartphones come paired with 4GB of RAM and a 3,000mAh battery.

Asus launched the Zenfone 4 Max smartphone last month in Russia. The USP on both devices is the massive 5,000mAh battery underneath. The Zenfone 4 Max Pro comes with just a few upgrades over the Max version. It features a 16-megapixel dual-rear camera as compared to 13-megapixel dual-rear cameras on the Zenfone 4 Max. Both the smartphones feature a 5.5-inch display with 1080×1920 pixels resolution. It is available in two variants – one powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, and other with Snapdragon 425 SoC. The smartphone further includes up to 4GB of RAM with 16GB/32GB/64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. Asus did not reveal much about the Zenfone 4 Max Pro at the event.

On the photography front, the device is rumored to sport a dual camera setup at the back with 12-megapixel and 8-megapixel sensors. Next in line is the Asus Zenfone 4 Max (ZC520KL) which is said to come with a 5.2-inch display, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC paired with 3GB of RAM. With 32GB of internal storage, there is no word on whether the storage is expandable or not. On the camera front, the Zenfone 4 Max is also expected to come with dual camera setup – 13-megapixel main camera supplemented with a 5-megapixel camera. The smartphone is expected to be armed with 4,100mAh. The Zenfone Max is likely to be priced at 229 Euros (Rs 16,500 approximately). Recently, Asus had announced an Asus Zenfone 4 Max with 5,000mAh battery and dual camera. However, the smartphone in question comes with a 5.5-inch display with full HD resolution. On the camera front, the smartphone packs a pair of 13-megapixel primary camera with autofocus and 13-megapixel wide-angle camera with f/2.0 aperture. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture and 140-degree panorama selfie mode.
After an uninspiring attempt by Lenovo at wooing consumers with its Google Project Tango-enabled PHAB2 Pro, another manufacturer is now aiming to get people thinking about the new found interest in Augmented Reality (AR). The Asus Zenfone AR was first announced at CES 2017, and today marks its debut in the Indian market. Asus’ smartphone is priced at Rs 49,999 and is exclusive to Flipkart. It will start selling starting 4PM today and will be available in black color. Augmented Reality, best understood as an amalgamation of the real and virtual worlds, reached epic heights of popularity with the mobile game called Pokémon GO. The game used real surroundings with the help of a phone’s camera, and showed virtual characters on the screen. Manufacturers like Lenovo and now Asus have attempted to bring the same experience using Google’s Project Tango. The USP of the Asus Zenfone AR is that it houses 8GB of RAM, and it is also compatible with Google’s Daydream View VR headset. The Asus Zenfone AR features a distinct leather-finish rear panel which gives it a very premium appeal. It houses a horizontal camera module. It is also equipped with a fingerprint sensor which is embedded into the home button. Talking about the specifications, it packs a 5.7-inch wide quad HD Super AMOLED (2560×1440p pixels) display. Disappointingly though, the smartphone is powered by a dated Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD card up to 2TB. However, the SoC has been optimized for Tango AR and Daydream VR. As for the AR-capabilities, the smartphone comes with a TriCam system featuring a 23-megapixel camera along with motion-tracking and depth sensing technology. There is a dual tone LED flash at the back. The camera is capable of recording 4K ultra HD videos @30fps, and also supports RAW files. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel camera supported with screen flash. On the software front, it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat wrapped under ASUS ZenUI 3.0. It is fuelled by a 3,300mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 and BoostMaster Fast Charging, which is claimed to take the power up to 60 percent in 39 minutes of charge. Connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2 and USB-C.
Asus is yet to launch the successor to ZenFone 3 series this year and the company reportedly has six smartphones in the pipeline, expected to be unveiled by this September. The Taiwanese tech firm has been working on ZenFone 4 series and it already kicked off the series with yesterday’s announcement of ZenFone 4 Max, hinting at the imminent launch of other smartphones from the series as well. The Asus Zenfone 4 has been subjected to several rumors in the past. A recent tip from tipster Roland Quandt now gives detail on the chipset which could make it to the final architecture of the upcoming smartphone. According to Quandt, the Asus ZenFone 4 will come in two SoC variant, where one of the variants will be powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC and another variant will be powered by Snapdragon 630 SoC. Earlier reports suggest the smartphone will come in two RAM and storage variants as well. Although details remain unknown so far. The Asus ZenFone 4 will be the successor to the company’s last year launched Asus ZenFone 3 flagship smartphone. From what we know so far, the company will also launch the Zenfone 4 Pro, Asus ZenFone 4V and the Zenfone 4 Selfie apart from the Zenfone 4 and ZenFone 4 Max. Among the lot, the ZenFone 4 Pro is said to be high-end offering by the company this year.

Asus too has announced a cut in the rates of the Asus ZenFone 3 and Asus ZenFone 3 Max models. The price-drop is not yet formally announced and will most likely be implemented in the upcoming days. As per a report by Gadgets 360, Asus has already informed distributors and retailers regarding the price drop. A total of five Asus smartphones – the ZenFone 3 (ZE552KL), the ZenFone 3 (ZE520KL), the ZenFone 3 Max (ZC553KL), the ZenFone 3S Max (ZC521TL), and the ZenFone 3 Max (ZC520TL) have received the price cut. The maximum discount of Rs 3,000 is on Asus ZenFone 3 (ZE552KL), which will now retail at Rs 16,999 from the previous Rs 19,999. The smartphone was originally launched at Rs 27,999 in the country, back in 2016. The device comes with a 5.5-inch display with 64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM, coupled with a 3,000mAh battery. The less-powerful Asus ZenFone 3 (ZE520KL), which comes with a 5.2-inch display, 32GB inbuilt storage and 3GB RAM, powered by a 2,650mAh battery, now gets a price-cut of Rs 2,000. The device which previously retailing for Rs 17,999, and is now available for Rs 15,999. The smartphone launched in 2016 for Rs 21,999 and received a price-cut once previously this year. ZenFone 3 Max (ZC553KL) will receive a Rs 1,000 price-drop as part of the post-GST slash. The phone will now retail for Rs 14,999 as after the price-drop, against the launch price of Rs 17,999. ZenFone 3 Max (ZC553KL) comes with a full HD display, 32GB internal storage and 3GB RAM. The phone is a battery intensive device and comes with a 4,000mAh battery. The Asus ZenFone 3 Max (ZC520TL), which is the most budget version will now be available for Rs 10,999, a Rs 2,000 drop from the previous Rs 12,999. Asus ZenFone 3S Max (ZC521TL), which is the latest in the Asus ZenFone Max series line-up comes with a Rs 2,000 cut and will now be available for Rs 12,999. The device runs Android Nougat 7.0 and comes with a 5.2-inch HD display, 32GB internal storage and 3GB RAM. The smartphone comes with a 5,000mAh battery. Asus ZenFone 3S Max (ZC521TL) was initially launched at Rs 14,999 and this is the first price slash for the smartphone. Asus is expected to make an official announcement regarding the price-cuts in the coming days. Currently, there is no news of other Asus smartphones too getting a price-drop.
