Airtel has introduced a new plan called Airtel Night under which the operator
is offering 50 percent data as cashback to users surfing between 12 am to 6 am.
Also, the operator has made subscription free for its Wynk music streaming service.

How
the Airtel Night plan works?
Airtel
subscribers need to activate the plan by sending SMS <NIGHT> to
<121> or by giving a missed call to <55555> or via myAirtel app.
The plan is available for 2G, 3G and 4G subscribers. 50 percent of the data
consumed between 12am to 6am is credited in the morning and can be used anytime
during the day. Note this cashback service is available for prepaid users currently.
Airtel says the service will be available for postpaid customers within a week.

Wynk music streaming service
Airtel
has only waived off subscription fee for Airtel customers. To use the service,
you need to download the Wynk app on your smartphone and use the service on
their mobile network or Airtel Wi-Fi network. However, data charges for
downloading and streaming music will be applicable as per the data plan of
customers. Airtel is offering unlimited songs download.
How
does it help Airtel?
Airtel’s new offers are clearly aimed at expanding subscribers base in
the country. After saturation in the voice segment, operators are now looking
to tap the data market. The cashback move will certainly encourage more users
to consume carrier data and use services such as Wynk, which is competing with
the likes of Saavn and Gaana. We are expecting rival telecom operators to come
up with similar cashback plans giving users more flexibility in terms of
consuming mobile data.
