Samsung Galaxy Note 7 edge to reportedly sport a dual-camera setup

The South Korean tech giant, Samsung, might unveil its new Galaxy Note 7 in Q3 2016. Previously, there were rumors that the manufacturer would release Galaxy Note 6 in August. However, latest news from reputable tipster Evan Blass suggest that the upcoming phablet would be called Galaxy Note 7 as opposed to Galaxy Note 6.

Now, the latest rumor claims the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 could come equipped with a dual-camera setup at the back. It is also being rumored that the Galaxy Note 7 will be available as an ‘edge’ variant.

Citing sources at Samsung Electro-Mechanics (Semco), China’s Zolreports that Samsung has already started working on the dual-camera module, which is likely to debut on the next generation Galaxy Note phablet. Though, details about the working of duo-cameras are scarce at the moment. Samsung is not the only one to explore the dual-cameras technology. Companies such as HTC, LG, Huawei and QiKU have also tried with dual-camera setup. That’s not all; if recent leaks are to be believed, Apple is all set to add dual-camera support to the upcoming iPhone 7 Plus.

Dual-camera setup is supposed to help the smartphones combine two images to deliver better and more detailed images. It is worth pointing out here that Samsung has included a Dual Pixel technology in its current Galaxy S7 smartphones. Samsung claims the technology helps deliver DSLR-quality low-light images along with other improved smartphone photography features. It will be interesting to see how Samsung will implement the Dual Pixel technology in a dual-camera setup.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 edge specifications and features:

The Galaxy Note 7 will also feature a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED 2K display with 2560 x 1440 resolution. This display does not come as a surprise since Samsung already incorporated the always-on display technology in Galaxy S7. The device might also sport the Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

The same publication revealed that the Note 7 would be available in two models running on the Exynos 8890 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 SoC. Furthermore, the phablet will come with 256 GB internal storage capacity and 6 GB of RAM to enhance its performance. Evidently, Samsung has configured the hardware to give superb performance.

Other expected features include 12-megapixel duo-pixel rear camera with PDAF, IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, iris scanner and fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication. It is likely to come with a 4,000mAh battery, USB Type-C port and Android N out-of-the-box. The Galaxy Note 7 edge is most likely to be launched August this year.
