BlackBerry
has finally launched its secure Android-powered smartphone in India called
Priv. After the struggling BB10 OS-based smartphones, it is BlackBerry’s yet another attempt to capture the smartphone market, but this
time with Android OS, which would take care of the app gap that has plagued
BlackBerry OS.
BlackBerry
smartphones have always been known for physical QWERTY keyboards and with the
Priv, the company has included a slide-out keyboard. The company has also
included addons such as BB Hub, BBM (BlackBerry Messenger), BlackBerry Device
Search, DTEK by BlackBerry warning system, BlackBerry Notes and BlackBerry
Password Keeper on top of Android.
Priced
at Rs. 62,990, the BlackBerry Priv will be available via Amazon India and
offline retail stores from Saturday (30th Jan ).

It
flaunts a 5.4-inch WQHD (2560x1440pixels) AMOLED display with curved edge
screen, which is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor (1.8GHz
dual-core Cortex-A57, and 1.44GHz quad-core Cortex-A53) coupled with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 418 GPU. It comes with 32GB of onboard storage, which is expandable by up to 2TB via a microSD card.
For photography, the BlackBerry Priv sports an 18 MP rear camera is wt the rear with OIS, PDAF, dual LED flash and 4K video recording. A 2 MP front camera is also board and offer HD video recording.
The smartphone is powered by a 3,410mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 2.0. Connectivity options include LTE, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS, NFC and Wi-Fi Direct. BlackBerry
