Two HTC Nexus Phones coming this year, rumor claims

Google is rumored to launch two new Nexus smartphones this year as well. However, this years Nexus smartphones will be made by HTC, according to reports. It may be recalled Google had tied up with LG and Huawei for the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P smartphones in 2015.

According to a new and unconfirmed rumor out of China, we shall once again see two Nexuses hitting the streets this year. One of them will have a 5-inch screen, while the other will get a 5.5-inch display. If true, this would represent an odd move for the mobile world, where handsets generally get bigger from year to year, not smaller (the Nexus 5X has a 5.2-inch panel, while the 6P has a5.7" screen). Then again, the original Nexus 6 from Motorola had a 6" display and that was shrinked in its successor, so anything is possible.

Last time Google had tied up with HTC was for the Nexus 9 tablet in 2014 almost four years after the Nexus One tie up. However, the Nexus 9 didnt had a big impact as the two sides might have expected. Googles new Nexus smartphones will be more important for HTC than Google.

The Taiwanese smartphone company has been making efforts to revive its fortunes in the market. HTCs sales have been hit as the company posted US$138 million net loss in the third quarter of 2015. The company has already been making efforts to restructure itself including job cuts.
