Xiaomi Redmi 3 with Snapdragon 616 processor, 4100mAh Battery launched: Price, specifications and features




After a number of teasers, Xiaomi has unveiled the latest addition to its entry-level Redmi smartphone line, named Redmi 3. The smartphone has been priced at 699 yuan (approximately $107)(Roughly Rs. 7,100) and goes on sale in China on January 12.

Despite the relatively low price tag, the Xiaomi Redmi 3 boasts a full-metal body and a uniquely patterned back panel. Furthermore, the smartphone also features a large 4,100mAh battery. Despite featuring a battery that is double in size, the Redmi 3 (139.3×69.6×8.5mm) is slimmer than the Redmi 2 (134×67.2×9.4mm).

The handset is listed to be available in Gold, Grey, and Silver colours.

Xiaomi Redmi 3 specifications and features: 

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 features a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display and packs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor, with four cores clocked at 1.2GHz, and four cores at 1.5GHz. The handset includes 2GB LPDDR3 RAM, Adreno 405 GPU, as well as 16GB of inbuilt storage that's expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). Xiaomi Redmi 3 runs on MIUI 7 software, based on Android Lollipop.

On the camera front, the Redmi 3 sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/ 2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) autofocus, and also supports 1080p full-HD video recording. There is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera as well which also supports full-HD recording. The dual-SIM Redmi 3 comes with hybrid SIM slot that support one Micro-SIM and other Nano-SIM alongside microSD card.

For connectivity, the Redmi 3 comes with 4G LTE connectivity, with support for LTE bands in India. 

There is however no word on when it could be launched in other markets, including India.
