After
having rolled out Android Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6
edge smartphones earlier this year, Samsung has now turned its attention on the
older Galaxy S5. The company has started rolling out Android Marshmallow 6.0.1
update for the Galaxy S5 users in India, and has also bumped up the firmware
version to G900IDDU1CPD1.
According to SamMobile the
Android Marshmallow update started rolling out for
Galaxy S5 users over the weekend. As is the norm, the update will be rolled out
in phases and you might have to wait a bit to get a notification. Alternatively,
you can also head over to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Update to
manually check for the update.
With the
update, Galaxy S5 users will get access to Marshmallow goodies like App Standby
and Doze Mode to boost battery life, Google Now on Tap for contextual search,
App Links and App Permissions among others.
Now on tap makes Google Now much more
accessible, and you can fire it up with a long press of the home button. So if
you are listening to a song, and want to know the singer, all you need to do is
ask ‘Who is the singer?’ and Google Now will understand the context and display the singer’s name. You can check out some of the new features on offer on Android
Marshmallow.
