We now
have actual photos of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge caught in the
wild. Samsung is expected to unveil its next flagship handset at a press event
in Barcelona on 21 February, so these significant, close-up looks of the Galaxy
S7 are very welcomed because they somewhat legitimise circulating reports while
also adding fuel to the rumour-mill flames.
The two
images that have leaked online appear to show the front of Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge and the back of the Galaxy S7. These photos line
up with previous rendered leaks, and from them, we can see that the phone's
camera housing appears slimmer than what the Galaxy S6 offers, suggesting
Samsung has opted for a smaller sensor, though it is hard to confirm that at
this point.
Reports have claimed the Galaxy S7's camera will
be 12 megapixels, whereas the Galaxy S6 has a 16-megapixel camera. Either way,
this leak from Vietnamese site Reviewdao.vn is impressive, as we are finally
getting to see what the new phones could look like in our hands.
we can
see it'll have the same curved glass back as the Note 5. And unlike Samsung's
existing lineup, this phone actually looks black, as opposed to the dark blue
of the S6 series.
Samsung
has also filed an application to trademark the term ‘Always On Mode’. While the term is quite
generic, it could mean that Samsung’s upcoming flagship
smartphones could feature an always on display to show vital notifications,
SamMobile reports. This would be similar to Motorola’s Active Display or Nokia’s Glance Screen.
Last
week, Samsung all but confirmed the Galaxy S7 Edge on its developer website. It
also revealed two UI modes Edge Single and Edge
Single Plus. The Edge Single Plus mode essentially extends the notifications,
and shows notifications in tiled formats that look similar to the Metro UI on
Windows Mobile.
Samsung
Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge specifications and features:
The Galaxy S7 is expected to feature a 5.1-inch screen, while
the Galaxy S7 Edge will feature a 5.5-inch display. Both will be Super AMOLED
displays at QHD resolution.
The
smartphones will be powered by either a Snapdragon 820 chipset or an Exynos
8890 depending upon the market, paired with 4GB of RAM, and 32GB and 64GB
storage options. After facing criticism, Samsung is believed to be bringing
back the microSD card slot, as well as making them water and dust resistant.
The two
devices are also expected to feature 3,000mAh battery with an USB
Type-C port on the Galaxy S7, while the Edge variant will feature a slightly
bigger 3,600mAh battery. Both batteries are also likely to feature Quick
Charging support.
Some days ago Tweet Eldar Murtazine tweet for Galaxy S7 battery life
Galaxy s7 playing a video 17+ hours with maximum backlight. The record for this class of devices.
