Lenovo Vibe P1 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update rolling out in India

Lenovo has started seeding the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to the users of the Vibe P1. The update for the Lenovo phone comes almost two weeks after the company seeded the update to the A7000.

Lenovo announced the roll out of the Android Marshmallow 6.0 update on its officialforums. “We expect Marshmallow to be rolling out for the Vibe P1, P1A42, over the next few days,” the post reads. Scrolling down the post shows users in India reporting that they have started receiving the Marshmallow update on their phones.

Some users claim they have already started receiving the update and some early bird lucky ones got the update even before this notification came along. The update is 1.67GB in size so we would advise you to be connected to a Wi-Fi network. The Vibe P1 is the third Lenovo phone to get the Marshmallow update after the K3 Note, followed by the A7000 that received the update in select regions only till now.

Although Motorola devices that are now owned by Lenovo have received swift updates for its range of devices like the Moto E, Moto G and Moto X, Lenovo has been slow in seeding the Marshmallow update to some of its non-Moto devices.

The OTA rollout has just begun, so it may be a while before the update hits your device. If you want to check manually for the update, head over to Settings>About Phone>System Updates and check if there is an update available.

Lenovo Vibe P1 Price, Specifications and Features:

The Lenovo Vibe P1 features a 5.5-inch 1080p display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and 1.5GHz Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage, along with microSD card slot.

The smartphone also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, fingerprint sensor, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 LE and GPS.

Lenovo had launched the Vibe P1 last year for Rs 15,999, and the smartphone is now available online for around Rs 15,499. The talking point is the massive 5,000mAh battery, which also comes with quick charging capabilities. It also supports OTG charging, which essentially turns the handset into a power bank.
