We are just a day away from Google’s launch event in San Francisco where it will be launching its much-rumored Pixel smartphones. But UK-based Carphone Warehouse has jumped the gun by making the pages for the Pixel and Pixel XL live. These pages not only show what the upcoming devices will look like, but also confirm most of the specifications and features that have leaked before.
Phone by Google" emphasising Google's self-branded line. The renders are pretty much in line with last week's leaks. The home screen shows circular icons with a new UI that is exclusive to the Pixels. The navigation buttons are present on screen leaving the bottom of the phone fairly large and open.
The retailer’s page, spotted by Android Police, also hints at other features like Google Assistant, USB Type-C port with quick charging support and customizable Live Cases.
The images form the site also give us a proper look at all the sides of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL with the power and volume control buttons on the right, a headphone jack on the top and a USB Type-C port on the bottom. There also appears two slits on either sides of the USB Type-C port which is likely to be dual speakers. The back of the device features a camera and flash module with noise cancelling holes next to it on the top left corner, a fingerprint sensor in the middle and the 'G' logo at the bottom. The top and bottom of the back will feature a combination of contrasting colours.
Moreover, the website also suggests that Google's latest Allo and Duo applications will come preloaded with the Pixel. Quick charge promises up to 7 hours of battery life in 15 minutes. Another slide reveals that the two devices will offer unlimited storage for photos and videos with Google Photos.
Google Pixel XL specifications and features
In line with previous leaks, the Google Pixel XL features a 5.5-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) AMOLED display with 534ppi and Gorilla Glass 4 protection, 2.15GHz Snapdragon 821 quad-core chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 256GB onboard storage. Interestingly, the retailer also mentions a microSD card slot, something that has been missing on the Nexus lineup.
The smartphone also features a 12-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel selfie camera, and a 3,450mAh battery that Google says is good enough for 26 hours of talktime and up to 456 hours on standby mode. There is also a fingerprint scanner placed at the back, and connectivity options like 4G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC. On the software front, the smartphone runs on Android Nougat out-of-the-box.
Google Pixel specifications and features
Most of the smartphone’s specifications and features remain the same. The only difference here is that the Google Pixel features a 5-inch QHD display, and comes with a smaller 2,770mAh battery that Google says is good enough for 32 hours of talktime and up to 552 hours on standby mode.
Google is also expected to unveil a bunch of other devices next month, including a 4K-capable Chromecast Ultra, a Daydream device reportedly called Daydream View, Google Home Wi-Fi router and possibly even some tablet or all-in-one devices that run on a new platform that’s based on Chrome OS and Android.
