The oft-leaked Moto M and the recently-unveiled Lenovo P2 are reportedly due to be launched next week at a November 8 event in Guanzhou, China. Invites for the November 8 event are doing the rounds of Chinese media, and were obtained by TechDroider.
The Moto M (XT1662has seen several leaks over the past few months, starting with a TENAA listing back in August. Beyond revealing a few specifications and a metal unibody design, the smartphone's listing also showed a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. Rumours surrounding the Moto M have since included leaked live images as well as renders that interestingly match the invite being shared.
We pretty much have a fair idea of what the Moto M could look like, and also what its specifications and features could be, courtesy of leaks and rumors. So far, what we know is that the Moto M could feature a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display. Under the hood of the Moto M, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz paired with Adreno 506 GPU is expected to run. There are two variants of the smartphone expected in terms of RAM and storage. The Moto M with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage is expected to be China exclusive, while the Moto M with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage would be for markets outside China.
According to the latest leak, the Moto M is expected to be backed by a massive 5,100mAh battery, while previous leaks suggest a 3,000mAh battery. In the photography department, the smartphone is expected to sport a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The connectivity options expected include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G LTE with VoLTE support and GPS.
As for its look and design, leaked images suggest that it will sport a full metal body design, along with a curved back. The back panel could have antenna bands running along the top and bottom of the smartphone. The back, home and app switcher buttons on the Moto M are on-screen similar to other Moto smartphones. The rear panel of the Moto M also shows a fingerprint scanner embedded below the camera lens. This makes it the first Moto smartphone to feature a fingerprint scanner at the back. The rear camera lens is also accompanied by a LED flash.
There was another report which suggested that along with the Moto M, a larger variant of the smartphone called the Moto M Plus would be launched. This variant is expected to come with a 6-inch 1080p display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 SoC, and a fingerprint scanner embedded into the home button up front. The Moto M Plus is expected to come with 4G LTE support and for power, it could feature a 3,000mAh battery.
As for the Lenovo P2 smartphone, its specifications and features are already known since it has been unveiled. The Lenovo P2 flaunts a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display. At the heart of the P2, runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. The smartphone comes in two variants of 3GB and 4GB RAM with 32GB and 64GB onboard storage respectively. An option to expand the storage up to 256GB via a microSD card is also available. In the photography department, the smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with AF, dual-LED flash, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera up front.
Its connectivity options include dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB v2.0 and USB OTG. It is also equipped with a fingerprint scanner which is embedded on the home button. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by a massive 5,100mAh battery. According to its Europe pricing, the Lenovo P2 comes to around Rs 20,300 for the lower variant and Rs 24,400 for the higher variant. The smartphone was also scheduled to be launched in November.
