MacBook Price in India Increased by Up to Rs. 10,000

While the entire world was focussed on the launch of the new MacBook Pro, Apple India decided to quietly increase the price of the MacBook by as much as Rs. 10,000. The change happened last week, and Apple India’s website has been updated to reflect the new prices.

he first generation MacBook was launched in March 2015 with prices starting from Rs 99,000. Earlier this April, Apple refreshed the lineup with bumped up hardware specifications and also increased the price to Rs 106,900. However, after the new MacBook Pro announcement, Apple has hiked the price of the existing MacBook lineup as well. So the base MacBook variant is now priced at Rs 112,900, a hike of Rs 6,000. Similarly, the top-end configuration mode now costs Rs 139,900, a hike of Rs 10,000 from the earlier pricing of Rs 129,900.

Apple recently gave the much-needed overhaul to the MacBook Pro line, which now comes with a slimmer design, better hardware, touch-enabled OLED ‘Touch Bar’ and a Touch ID fingerprint scanner embedded inside the power button. It is offered in 13.3-inch and 15.4-inch model. This time around, Apple went with a ‘Touch Bar’ strip that brings virtual interchangeable buttons, instead of having dedicated keys for skipping music tracks, controlling the volume and changing display brightness. As the ‘Touch Bar’ is contextual, the buttons changes based on the app that you are using. For instance, if you are using Safari browser, the Touch Bar will have buttons such as add new tab, favorites, search bar and more. When using Word, it can offer tools such as bold, change color, italics, strike-through, and copy, paste and more.

The Touch ID power button is powered by Apple T1 Chip and Secure Enclave. Besides scanning the fingerprint and allowing password less login to the system, it can also be used to make payments on Mac OS Sierra. Apple has also introduced a 13-inch MacBook without the ‘Touch Bar’ which is priced at Rs 129,900. The 13.3-inch model with Touch Bar will set you back by Rs 155,900, whereas the 15.4-inch model costs 205,900.
