Asus Zenfone 3 Max with 4,100mAh battery launched in India, price starts at Rs 12,999: Specifications and features

Earlier this year, Asus debuted the Zenfone 3 series with a slew of smartphones including the Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Deluxe, Zenfone 3 Ultra and Zenfone 3 Laser. The Zenfone 3 series comes as a serious upgrade over the previous Zenfone series of smartphones. A few notable changes include a slimmer metal unibody in a new design language and addition of fingerprint scanner among others. Today, Asus has added a new member to its Zenfone 3 series called Zenfone 3 Max. The smartphone is offered in two variants – Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL) priced at Rs 12,999 and Zenfone 3 Max (ZC520TL) priced at Rs 17,999.

The former will go on sale from Wednesday itself across physical stores and online marketplaces. The latter will become available to buy from the end of November. Both smartphones will be available in Glacier Silver, Sand Gold, and Titanium Gray colour variants.

Asus Zenfone 3 Max specifications and features

Once again, Asus continues with its naming confusion. The Zenfone 3 Max comes in two variants, both of which are called Zenfone 3 Max and come with a confusing model number to distinguish between the two. The Zenfone 3 Max ZC553KL variant sports a 5.5-inch full HD display covered with 2.5D curved glass on top. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 processor paired with Adreno 505 GPU and 3GB of RAM. With 32GB of onboard storage, it comes with a microSD card slot for up to 128GB of additional storage.

In the photography department, the Zenfone 3 Max sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, and laser auto-focus. For selfie enthusiasts, it has an 8-megapixel front camera with beautification mode. Both the cameras are capable of shooting videos in full HD resolution. The smartphone has a 4,100mAh battery, which is rated to deliver 20 hours of talktime and can survive up to 30 days on standby mode. It comes with reverse charging support.

The Zenfone 3 Max ZC520TL variant, on the other hand, flaunts a smaller 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) display with 2.5D curved glass on top. It is powered by MediaTek’s quad-core processor clocked at 1.25GHz and paired with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM. It comes with 32GB of onboard storage along with a microSD card slot for further expansion. In the camera department, you get a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper. Rest of the specifications of the smartphone are same as the larger variant.

In terms of connectivity, both Zenfone 3 Max variants support dual-SIM, 4G LTE + VoLTE HD voice calling support, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS and AGPS. The smartphones also feature a rear fingerprint scanner. On the software front, they runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with ZenUI 3.0 on top.
