Apple Offering Free Repair to iPhone 6s Users Affected by Unexpected Shutdowns

After announcing a repair program for the ‘Touch Disease’ issue on iPhone 6 Plus last week, Apple has announced another repair program for iPhone 6s units that are plagued by unexpected shutdown issue. According to Apple, “very small number” of iPhone 6s models are affected by the issue which causes the phones to unexpectedly shut down. Only a batch of iPhone 6s models manufactured between September and October 2015 are eligible for free battery replacement program.

If you are one of those who have experienced unexpected shut down issues, you can visit any Apple authorized seller or service provider with your problematic iPhone 6s. They will check if the serial number of your iPhone 6s matches with the problematic ones to confirm the eligibility for a free battery replacement. You iPhone 6s should also be in a working order and devices with cracked screens won’t be fixed as a part of this program, Apple says.

Apple also notes that the program covers iPhone 6s batteries for three years from first retail sale of the unit and battery replacement does not extend the standard warranty coverage of your device.

For some users who paid to get the issue fixed are also eligible for refund, confirmed Apple. "This worldwide Apple program doesn't extend the standard warranty coverage of the iPhone 6s," the company added.
