New Lenovo Zuk Edge to Sport Snapdragon 821 SoC, 6GB of RAM and without a curved display

After being teased online by the head of ZUK, and its incessant leaks surfacing every now and then, it is safe to assume that the ZUK Edge will be the next top-end smartphone from the Lenovo subsidiary. And now after a bunch of leaks, some images of the ZUK Edge have leaked online, which give us a hint at the smartphone’s build and design. The images were leaked on Weibo, and were spotted by @KJuma.

Out of the three images of the ZUK Edge that have been leaked, two of them that surfaced on Weibo are quite blurry, and barely reveal any substantial detail about the smartphone. While one confirms that it’s a ZUK smartphone by showing a handset booting with the ZUK logo, the other image reveals that the smartphone will be running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

However, the third image, which has been leaked by /LEAKS, divulges a little extra detail than what is already known. Though the last leak of the smartphone listed on TENAA did show a smartphone with any curved display, but given the purported name of the device, a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge-like curved display has largely been expected. But if the the image that has now been spotted on Weibo is to be believed, the ZUK Edge, will in fact, not feature a curved display.

The image reveals the ZUK Edge in white color, with the display framed around with a very thin bezel. Although there is evidently no curved display to be seen, but it may have a ZTE-style approach of optically simulating a curve near the edges.

Talking about the recent TENAA listing of the smartphone, a ZUK phone with code Z2151 had appeared on the website. Like mentioned before, falling in line with the Weibo images that surfaced today, the ones listed on TENAA too showed the ZUK Edge without a curved display. Other than that, the images also showed the front, back and side profile of the smartphone, revealing a selfie camera lens right above the display, with a home button placed at the bottom of the face of the phone. The back of the smartphone showed a rear camera lens placed vertically with the LED flash. Down below, the ZUK branding could be seen. The power button and the volume rocker sat on the right side of the smartphone and the SIM slot tray was located on the left side.

ZUK Edge specifications and features

Besides, the TENAA listing also revealed that the ZUK Edge will feature a 5.5-inch full HD display. Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor clocked at 2.35GHz, paired with Adreno 530 GPU. The smartphone will come with 4GB of RAM and internal storage of 64GB. There are speculations that the smartphone will not come with expandable storage. A Chinese publication which posted live images of the Zuk Edge claims that the handset will also come with a 6GB of RAM variant.

On the photography front, the ZUK Edge will sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Up front, there will be an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The ZUK Edge will be fueled by a 3,000mAh battery. On the software end, the smartphone will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box, which also falls in line with today’s leak. The smartphone will weigh around 160 grams and will be 7.68mm thick.
