As Nokia’s plans to re-enter the smartphone business are official, the rumor mill just can’t keep still as numeros leaks and revelations keep spilling about the company’s new smartphone after years. The Finnish smartphone maker is expected to launch Android-powered smartphones, which could mark the company’s comeback in the industry at the Mobile World Congress in 2017. Now the latest details to emerge about the Nokia smartphone is through benchmarking website, Geekbench, according to which the purported smartphone will come with entry-level specifications.
The Nokia smartphone or the Nokia ‘Pixel’ smartphone as a lot of rumors are suggesting, will run the latest Android 7.0.1 Nougat OS and will be powered by a dual-core Qualcomm processor clocked at 1.19 GHz with 926 MB or 1GB of RAM. According to Geekbench, the smartphone scores 404 on single-core test and 661 on multi-core test, indicating the handset will indeed be an entry-level smartphone. However, there have been speculations in the past about Nokia unveiling not one but two smartphones out of which one will boast premium features. Recently, a Weibo post by a Chinese leakster hinted that one of the upcoming Nokia smartphones could come with a 5.2-inch or 5.5-inch screen with 2K (QHD) display, which could eventually mean a high-end category smartphone.
Other than the display size and quality, the speculated premium-range Nokia smartphone is expected to run a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. One of the highlights of the premium-end version is that it will come equipped with a Carl Zeiss lens in the front, which could possibly make it one of the first smartphones to incorporate professional-level technology to its front camera. It is expected that the smartphone will feature a 22.6-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and 4K video recording capabilities. The premium variant is further expected to sport a metal unibody design and have water-resistant capabilities. In terms of connectivity, it will come equipped with support for 4G LTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. Till now, there haven’t been any details about the battery capacity, however, it is rumored to support Quick Charge 3.0 technology. According to rumors, prices of the premium-variant could start at Rs 30,000 approximately.
