Lenovo-owned Motorola is gearing up to launch a new smartphone called Moto M. The yet to be announced smartphone has been subjected to a number of leaks, revealing its design, specifications and features. Now, ahead of the speculated November 8 launch, some press images of the Moto M have surfaced online.
First spotted by French publication Nowhereelse.fr, the leaked images reveal that the Moto M will feature a metal unibody design. From what we can see in the photos, the 3.5mm audio port is placed on the top along with SIM card slot, whereas the USB Type-C port is placed at the bottom, flanked by the speaker grill. The power / sleep button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge. Turn to the back device, and you have a capsule shaped camera module with LED flash, and the fingerprint scanner placed below it.
Coming to the hardware, the press photos reveal a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080p) display. The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P15 octa-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz, paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. A microSD card slot with support up to 128GB is also present. In the camera department, the smartphone houses a 16-megapixel rear snapper with LED flash and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. With 3,050mAh battery, connectivity options such as Bluetooth, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and GPS is also present.
Past leaks also revealed a Qualcomm chipset powered variant featuring a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display. Under the hood could be Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz paired with Adreno 506 GPU. It could be offered in two variants – 4GB RAM + 64GB onboard storage (China exclusive), and other with 3GB RAM + 32GB onboard storage for markets outside China. Leaks also suggest that the Moto M could feature a massive 5,100mAh battery could be in tow. In the photography department, the smartphone is expected to sport a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The connectivity options expected include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G LTE with VoLTE support and GPS.
There was another report which suggested that along with the Moto M, a larger variant of the smartphone called the Moto M Plus would be launched. This variant is expected to come with a 6-inch Full HD (1080p) display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 652 SoC, and a fingerprint scanner embedded into the home button up front. The Moto M Plus is expected to come with 4G LTE support and for power, it could feature a 3,000mAh battery.
It is also equipped with a fingerprint scanner which is embedded in the home button. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by a massive 5,100mAh battery.
