Google Pixel, Pixel XL price in India starts from Rs 57,000, pre-orders from October 13 on Flipkart


Google Pixel, Pixel XL phones are now official and the devices look exactly like what the leaks had indicated. With Pixel phones, the branding is all Google; the phones have been engineered and tested in-house by the search giant. Just like Apple and the iPhone, Google has complete control over the Pixel devices. Unlike Nexus phones, which had a co-branding with the OEM, Pixel is Google’s big foray into the smartphone hardware space where software is the focus.

Google has announced that its Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones will be available for preorder in India from next week. Both Pixel and Pixel XL will be offered in two storage variants – 32GB and 128GB. The 32GB Google Pixel will set you back by Rs 57,000, whereas the 128GB variant is priced at Rs 66,000. The Google Pixel XL, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 67,000 for 32GB variant and Rs 76,000 for the 128GB variant, the Google Pixel will be available for pre-order in India starting October 13 via Flipkart and over 1000 plus organized and multi-brand retail stores with leading retail partners including Reliance Digital, Croma and Vijay sales among others.  Google will be offering interest free EMI programs and upgrade offers. Pixel users will have access to a toll free phone support number along with 54 walk in service centers across more than 30 cities in India.

India is among the first six countries where Pixel is being launched. The Google Pixel will be available in India in two sizes – 5-inch and 5.5-inch, and two colors – Quite Black and Very Silver. The smartphones will be available in 32GB and 128GB storage variants. 

The Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are first from Google to come pre-installed with Google Assistant, a voice-based digital assistant, out-of-the-box. Successor to Google Now, Google Assistant is smarter, and enables users to perform multiple tasks using voice commands. It also supports contextual search, just like Google’s Now on Tap. What’s more? Both smartphones also come pre-installed with Google’s new video-messaging app, Duo and Allo.

Google Pixel, Pixel XL specifications and features

The Google Pixel sports a 5-inch full HD (1080p) display, whereas the Pixel XL sports a slightly larger 5.5-inch QHD (1440x2560pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and aluminum body. Under the hood, you have Qualcomm’s latest 64-bit Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor, paired with Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM. With 32GB and 128GB onboard storage, there is no option to expand it further.

Both, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL are equipped with a 12.3-megapixel rear snapper of aperture f/2.0, laser auto-focus and LED Flash. Google also claims that the camera is the best on any smartphone, with DxOMark score of 89, which even surpasses the Apple iPhone 7. The camera also includes modes such as HDR+ and Smartbust, video recording in 4K, and video stabilization and more. Google is also offering users with unlimited photo and video storage on Google Photos in high-resolution quality.

On the connectivity front, both smartphones feature a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer- up to 7 hours in 15 minutes., Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and NFC. The Pixel is armed with a 2,770mAh battery, whereas the Pixel XL boasts a slightly larger 3,450mAh battery. On the software front, both smartphones run on the newest Android operating system, Android 7.1 Nougat.
