The Moto Z, Moto Z Play and Moto Mods have been launched in India, almost a month after they were announced at the IFA in Berlin. Available exclusively on Amazon and Flipkart starting 11:59 pm, October 17, the Moto Z has been priced at Rs 39,999 and Moto Z PLay at Rs 24,999.
The Moto Mods, little modules that add more more to the phone in the form of battery life, a zoom camera or projection, have been launched in India with discounted bundle pricing. The JBL SoundBoost Speaker is priced Rs 6,999, but will cost only Rs 5,999 when bought with the phone. The Hasselblad True Zoom Camera similarly has a price of Rs 19,999 and bundle price of Rs 14,999. The Instashare Projector costs Rs 19,999 and Rs 15,999 in the bundles, the Incipio offGRIDtm Power Pack similarly costs Rs 5,999 and Rs 4999. The new Style Shells - Wood & Ballistic Nylon - Rs 1099 and bundle price of Rs 899. The new Leather for Rs 1599 and bundle price of Rs 1299.
Along with the semi-modular concept, the Moto Z is also one of the few Android smartphones to skip 3.5mm audio jack, and support audio via USB. LeEco introduced a CDLA technology on its Le2 series of smartphones. The technology is said to deliver lossless and improved audio quality via USB. Apple has also ditched the 3.5mm audio jack in its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones.
Moto Z Specifications and features
The Moto Z comes with a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display. It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box and is powered by a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone is available in 32GB and 64GB storage options along with a microSD card slot to further expand the onboard memory.
For photography, the smartphone comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera, f/1.8 aperture, laser auto-focus, optical image stabilization (OIS) and dual LED flash. It has a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The smartphone comes with a humble 2,600mAh battery with Turbo Charging smartphone. Other important features of the smartphone include water-repellent nano-coating, fingerprint scanner and connectivity options such as 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.
Moto Z Play specifications and features
The smartphone sports a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) Super AMOLED display, and is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB storage onboard, which can be expanded using a microSD card.
For photography, the Moto Z Play sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with laser auto-focus, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, and 4K video recording capabilities. There is also a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Other features of the smartphone include fingerprint scanner, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi and USB Type-C port. Unlike the Moto Z, this smartphone comes with the 3.5mm audio jack. It comes with a 3,510mAh battery along with turbo charging support.
