We have been hearing about Samsung’s plan to expand its C-series with a new smartphone, rumored as the Galaxy C9. Ahead of an official announcement, the smartphone has been spotted on several benchmarking websites along with the import-export website Zauba. Recently, the Samsung Galaxy C9 was also listed on US’ FCC certification. Now, in the latest development, the smartphone has been spotted on Chinese regulatory site TENAA, revealing key information about the device. The Galaxy C9 is said to be the successor to the Samsung Galaxy C7, and is expected to launch next month. Samsung’s C-series had debuted in China earlier this year with the Galaxy C7 and Galaxy C5.
The listing on TENAA, first spotted by GSMarena, also reveals a few images of what is believed to be the upcoming Galaxy C9. The images hint at a similar design language as of the Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7. The smartphone comes with a metallic back panel and has the camera and LED flash placed at the top. Right below the camera, there is the Samsung logo. Upfront, the image reveals that the smartphone will come with a capsule shaped physical home button. We assume that the home button will double up as the fingerprint scanner. Upon looking closely you will also notice the power button placed at the right hand side whereas the volume rockers are placed on the left hand side. On the top, the smartphone features a selfie-camera.
The Samsung smartphone was recently listed on the FCC site as well bearing the model number SM-C9000, which is same as rumored previously. Going by the FCC documents, the Samsung Galaxy C9 will come with a massive a 4,000mAh battery. The FCC listing also confirms connectivity options like 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth v4.2 LE.
Samsung Galaxy C9 specifications and features
From what we know so far, the Samsung Galaxy C9 is expected to feature a 6-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, although previous rumors have hinted at a 5.7-inch display as well. However, according to TENAA listing, the smartphone is said to come with a bigger 6-inch display. Under the hood of the Galaxy C9 will be powered by a Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor paired with Adreno GPU. It will be paired with 6GB of RAM. If this rumor stands true, then Galaxy C9 will be the first smartphone by Samsung to come with a 6GB of RAM and will join the likes of the OnePlus 3 and LeEco Le Max 2. TENAA listing also reveals that it will have a 64GB of expandable memory.
On the camera front, the smartphone is expected to sport 16-megapixel camera on the front and on the back. At the back the camera will come equipped with LED flash. On the software front, the Samsung Galaxy C9 is expected to run on Android 6.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box as mentioned. The TENAA listing confirms that the smartphone will support 4G LTE.
Samsung has not yet launched the C-series in India, however with the Galaxy C9 being spotted on Zuaba there is a possibility of Samsung launching the Galaxy C9 in the Indian market as well.
According to Android Authority Rumor has it that the Galaxy C9 and C9 Pro will arrive in Gold, Silver and Rose Gold options during their anticipated launch in China later this month (and in the US in November).
Back in July this year, the company had launched the Samsung Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7 in China.
