Asus is all set to launch the ZenFone 3 series in India today, but just a few hours ahead of the event in New Delhi, Snapdeal has leaked the price of at least one of the smartphones in the lineup - the ZenFone 3.
An offer page has gone up on Snapdeal that at the time of writing hadn't yet been pulled down. It lists the Asus ZenFone 3 (ZE552KL) at Rs. 21,999 - significantly higher than the global price at launch - $249, which translates to roughly Rs. 16,800. Snapdeal doesn’t mention the Zenfone 3 Ultra or the Zenfone 3 Deluxe, which too are expected to be launched today.
The company appears only to have brought the 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage model to India, though it had announced a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage at the May launch in Taipei. The smartphone is listed to go on sale at 5pm IST on Snapdeal.
As per the listing on Snapdeal, Asus will be launching two variants of the Zenfone 3 — ZE520KL with a 5.2-inch display, and the ZE520KL with a 5.5-inch display. As far as we can make out, the Rs 21,999 price tag is for the variant with the 5.2-inch display, which also offers 32GB built-in storage along with 3GB of RAM.
While the 5.5-inch variant is also named ZE520KL we feel there could be some mistake, as the Zenfone 3 5.5-inch variant launched in international markets was named ZE552KL. While both variants share all the specifications and features, this variant does come with 64GB built-in storage as well as 4GB of RAM.
The Zenfone 3 flaunts a full HD (1920×1080 pixels) resolution display with 2.5D curved glass covering it, and it is powered by a 2GHz Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core processor. On the photography front, the smartphone is equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, laser auto-focus and OIS, while up front is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and 88 degrees wide angle lens.
The Zenfone 3 also features a 3,000mAh battery, a fingerprint scanner at the back and connectivity options like 4G LTE support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and GPS. The smartphone runs Android Marshmallow 6.0 out-of-the-box.
