MediaTek accidentally reveals Meizu Pro 7 to be powered by Helio X30 SoC


MediaTek while sharing its official revenue figures for the month of June, accidentally revealed of upcoming smartphone Meizu Pro 7 is powered by company’s Helio X30 chipset. Meizu Pro 7 has been in rumors for long and this is the first confirmation on any of the rumored specifications coming from primary chip exporter, however, unofficially.

As per MediaTek’s document, the company has reportedly clocked a sum total of CNY 21.894 billion in June, significantly increased from CNY 18.37 billion in May. These documents with references to Meizu hints at the Chinese smartphone maker to feature Helio X30 chipset in one or more upcoming smartphones. These smartphones are said to release in the second half of 2017. From past reports, the Meizu Pro 7 has been long touted to feature the deca-core Helio X30 chipset. The latest chipset by MediaTek offers support for 4K displays, can be paired with up to 8GB of RAM, Universal File Storage 2.1, 3X carrier aggregation, LTE Cat-10, and Imagiq 2.0.

Besides the Helio X30 chipset, Meizu Pro 7 is also expected to have a secondary display on the rear panel. The rear-mounted display panel is said to be basically a replica of the primary display but will consume less power and help save on battery life. In an earlier leak, the secondary display was said to be an LCD one, rather than the previously rumored e-ink or monochrome display.

From what we know so far, the Meizu Pro 7 is expected to feature a 5.2-inch Full HD (1080p) primary display, a 3,060mAh battery, and a dual rear camera setup. The camera is said to be a pair of 12-megapixel sensors combining Sony IMX386 and IMX286 in place, respectively. On the front, the Meizu Pro 7 will have a 16-megapixel selfie snapper. The smartphone will continue to have the conventional 3.5mm audio jack. 

Also, other reports hint at a bigger variant of Meizu Pro 7 Plus in works as well. The larger sibling is said to sport a 5.7-inch display and come in 4GB and 6GB RAM variant. While there is no official word on the pricing, the Meizu Pro 7 can be priced from $409 (approximately Rs 26,999), and Meizu Pro 7 Plus is said to start from $555 (approximately Rs 36,000).
