Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ Orchid Gray colour variant launched in India



The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ flagship smartphones were announced earlier this year and the smartphones are already up for purchase in India. Samsung has now announced a new color variant of the smartphones in the country – Orchid Gray. Both the flagship devices are available in the new color option. With the launch of the new Orchid Gray color variant, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ devices are now available in a total of four colors: Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Coral Blue and Orchid Gray.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are already up for pre-order on Flipkart and also on Samsung Shop. The pre-order registration will continue till July 11 and post July 12, the delivery of the phones will commence. Post July 12, both the smartphones will also be available in select retail outlets. Along with the purchase of the phone, Samsung is also offering a free Convertible Wireless Charger worth Rs 4,499 and Rs 3,000 cashback (only for HDFC credit card users). Samsung Galaxy S8 will be priced at Rs 57,900 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ will come for Rs 64,900.

“To further fuel the unprecedented response to Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, Samsung is pleased to introduce the all new Orchid Gray colour. Through this stunning colour, our consumers would make a style statement that would set them above and apart from everyone else,” said Asim Warsi, Senior Vice President, Mobile Business, Samsung India, on the launch of the devices in the new color variant. The new color variant of the phones come with the same features and specifications of the originally launched Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ specifications

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ both come with the dual curved edge Always-on, ‘Infinity’ display. While the Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, the Samsung Galaxy S8+ is larger with a 6.2-inch display. While Samsung announced the Samsung Galaxy S8 series devices with the Snapdragon 835 chipset as well as the Exynos 8895 processor, only the latter version is available in India. Both the devices come with 64GB internal storage (expandable up to 256GB) and 4GB RAM.


Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ come with a 12-megapixel rear camera with the front camera resolution of 8-megapixel. Additionally, the smartphones also support Samsung’s voice assistant – Bixby. However, the Bixby assistant is now available in full on all Samsung Galaxy S8 series devices and recent reports suggested Samsung is facing difficulties in teaching English and Chinese languages to the assistant, leading to further delays in roll out. Samsung Galaxy S8 is powered by a 3,000mAh battery while Samsung Galaxy S8+ comes with a larger 3,500mAh juicer.
