Samsung Galaxy S8 mini rumors hint at 5.3-inch display, Snapdragon 821 SoC

Smartphone companies riding on the buzz around the flagship smartphones isn’t really a new phenomenon. From “mini” to “plus”, we’ve seen a slew of variants of the main flagship devices in the past. Even as Samsung is gearing up for its next major launch, believed to be the Galaxy Note 8, a new variant of the existing flagship smartphone, Galaxy S8, has been spotted online. Dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy S8 ‘mini’, the smartphone is rumored to sport a 5.3-inch display.

Though there are also speculations that it could come with a tad smaller 4.3-inch display. However, the Samsung Galaxy S8 mini will be less powerful than the incumbent flagship smartphone as it’s rumored to come with a rather dated Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It is expected to come with 32GB of onboard storage. Other expected features of the smartphone include an iris scanner, as seen in the Galaxy S8 series.

Since it’s still a rumor and comes from a pretty much reliable source(gsmarena), we’d recommend taking the information with a pinch of salt. That being said, it’s not really the first time Samsung would have a mini variant of its flagship smartphone.

If the latest rumors hold any merit, the mini version would be just an affordable version of the Galaxy S8. Moreover, it gives users another option at least in terms of form factor. At the moment, the Samsung Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch display, whereas the Samsung Galaxy S8+ has a 6.2-inch display. It is worth noting that the Galaxy Note 8 is rumored to come with a 6.3-inch display with a taller 18:5:9 aspect ratio.
