Moto X4 with dual cameras, Snapdragon 630 SoC, Amazon Alexa support launched


After being subjected to a number of leaks, Lenovo-owned Motorola has taken the wraps off the Moto X4 at IFA 2017.  The company has waited nearly two years to introduce the successor to the Moto X Style. The Moto X4 smartphone comes with a host of upgrades, and design changes when compared to the previous Moto X smartphones.

The Moto X4 is priced at €399 (Rs 30,000 approximately), and it will go on sale in Europe later this month. Although there is no specific date of India release announced by the Lenovo yet, the smartphone will see a  global launch including the US later this year. The Moto X4 has a metal unibody design with Gorilla Glass 3 for protection, a first one in the Moto X series. Further, the smartphone also comes equipped with a twin-camera setup at the back with dual-LED flash placed inside the circular bulge.

Moto X4 uses a 12-megapixel primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, and Dual Pixel auto-focus paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens of  f/2.2 aperture and 1.12um big pixels. Other features of the primary camera include phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), bokeh or depth-of-field effects, selective color mode, and 4K video recording. Upfront, the Moto X4 has a 16-megapixel selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash.

The Moto X4 has a 5.2-inch full HD (1o80p) IPS display with curved glass for a premium look and feel. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 630 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz. The smartphone comes in two variants – 32GB storage with 3GB RAM, and 64GB storage with 4GB RAM. The internal storage of the smartphone can be expanded via the microSD card slot. It has fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button on the front. 

The smartphone runs on Android Nougat 7.1, and comes with Amazon Alexa integration. Also, it comes with Moto Key password manager feature that will allow you to input your security credentials on websites with just a single tap. It houses a 3,000mAh battery accompanied by the company’s TurboPower charger for fast charging. In addition, the Moto X4 bears IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

For connectivity, it supports 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC,  USB Type-C port and 3.5mm audio jack. It is further powered by a France-based Tempow’ newly integrated ‘Wireless Sound System’ that lets you simultaneously connect up to four Bluetooth audio systems. The Moto X4 will come in Super Black and Sterling Blue color options.
