Earlier today, Xiaomi launched the Mi MIX 2 smartphone at an event in Beijing, China. The new smartphone is better in every way when compared to its predecessor, the Mi MIX. But there is another way the Mi MIX 2 is different from its predecessor – it will be launched in India. The news about an Indian launch was soon confirmed by Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain via a tweet.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2‘s USP is its bezel-less display, as well as a staggering screen-to-body ratio of 93 percent. In fact, Xiaomi says that the new smartphone is 11.9 percent smaller than the Mi MIX, and about seven percent smaller than the Apple iPhone 7 Plus.
The Mi MIX 2 has been launched in three variants in China. The base model with 64GB storage is priced at RMB 3,299 (approximately Rs 32,400), the 128GB storage variant is priced at RMB 3,599 (approximately Rs 35,300), while the top-end 256GB variant is priced at RMB 3,999 (approximately Rs 39,300). There is also a limited edition Mi MIX 2 variant boasting a ceramic body, 128GB storage, and a whopping 8GB of RAM, priced at 4,699 RMB (approximately Rs 46,100). It will be interesting to see what variants come to India.

In terms of features and specifications, the Mi MIX 2 has a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC aided by a 6GB RAM. For photography, there is a 12-megapixel rear camera, while selfies are taken care by a 5-megapixel snapper with Beautify mode.
On the software front, the Mi MIX 2 runs on Android Nougat-based MIUI 9. Other features include a 3,400mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, fingerprint sensor and connectivity options like Bluetooth 5.0, and 4G VoLTE support.
