How much ever the online market flourishes in India, the offline space will always remain essential in a country like ours. And we have witnessed the importance of the space with many domestic and international companies setting up their experience zones and offline stores in various parts of the country. While OnePlus has already opened its first experience zone in Bengaluru along with popup stores for new launches, the company is now partnering with major retailer Croma to push its offline sales.
The company will initially be selling the latest OnePlus 5, along with select accessories in Croma retail stores, starting September 19. Eventually, the entire portfolio of products will be on sale through Croma locations. OnePlus is joining hands with Croma at 10 of its stores in major cities across India, which include Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Pune.

Initially, it will just be 10 stores across India, but this will gradually increase going forward to include more Croma locations in India. The move comes soon after Xiaomi’s expansion into the offline space through its Mi Home stores and tie ups with key retailers. OnePlus started out selling its products exclusively online through an invite process, and the move to offline retail is aimed at offering a better buying experience and options to customers.
Further, we also spoke with OnePlus India’s General Manager Vikas Agarwal, who told us about the company’s booming sale. India now accounts for 40 percent of OnePlus’ sales globally, and is now its largest market. The company GM also revealed that OnePlus now stands on the third position in the premium smartphone segment in India as per the IDC Q2 report.
Agarwal also said, “…Our aim is to create a premium experience for them [fans] and offer them a chance to hold the device in their hand and experience. Until you see and hold the OnePlus device, you do not necessarily appreciate the attention to detail and the premium design of the smartphone… Croma stores are aimed at being a point of unique experience and not just a point of sale. We believe that the presence in Croma stores will further complement our ‘online first’ focus and strengthens customer trust.”
