Samsung Bixby Voice to officially rollout in India on September 30

Samsung launched the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ earlier this year, and today the company is all set to launch the all new Galaxy Note 8 in India. One of the highlights of these smartphones is that it comes with Google Assistant, as well as Samsung’s own virtual voice assistant Bixby. While the voice functionality recently started rolling out in 200 countries across the globe, India was left behind. Today, at the Galaxy Note 8 launch event, Samsung announced that Bixby voice functionality for the Galaxy S8 duo, and the Galaxy Note 8 will be rolled out on September 30.

Samsung stressed on the fact that it took them time to roll out the virtual voice assistant for the Indian market because they wanted Bixby to be capable of recognizing Indian accents. The Bixby version that will be rolled out in India is different from the one that is available in other parts of the globe. Bixby voice for India has been developed at the company’s R&D center in Bengaluru.

Besides answering simple queries like the weather, currency calculation and general knowledge questions, Bixby has a lot of tricks up its sleeve. You can summon the voice assistant by simply saying ‘Hi Bixby’ followed by the command. Bixby can click a photo, selfie or even take a screenshot with your voice command. What’s more, you can also ask Bixby to upload your last photo on Facebook or Twitter with a caption, and it will do all the heavy lifting. All you need to do is check and click on the post / tweet button.
