It’s a big day tomorrow. Apple is hosting its annual iPhone launch event, while Samsung is officially launching the Galaxy Note 8 in India the same day. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 India launch will be held in New Delhi at 12:30PM IST. While the iPhones are still in anticipation, the Galaxy Note 8 is already picking up wide popularity among the Indians. Over 2.5 lakh people in India have registered to buy Samsung Galaxy Note 8 device.
Nearly one lakh people have registered to buy Galaxy Note 8 on Samsung India website, industry sources told IANS. Samsung was aware of the iPhone launch but was confident enough to launch on the same day owing to its strong leadership position in India, the sources added.
At this point, we know everything about the Galaxy Note 8, since it was globally launched in New York on August 23. However, there are two blocks still missing out of the puzzle – one is the date of sale, and the other is the price of the phablet. Some reports suggest that the Galaxy Note 8 will be priced at either Rs 69,900 or Rs 74,900. During its first sale, the Galaxy Note 8 will be available in two colors of black and gold. Also, like the Galaxy S8 duo’s launch offer, Samsung is also said to offer a free wireless charger on the purchase of the Galaxy Note 8. Besides, the Galaxy Note 8 India launch details, Samsung is also expected to make some announcement around its ‘Make In India’ initiative.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 specifications and features
Just to recall, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 features a 6.3-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display, with a 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Under its hood, runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC or an Exynos 8895 SoC, depending on the launch market. For the Indian market, we can expect the Exynos-powered model, as was the case with the Galaxy S8 duo. The phablet comes with 6GB of RAM and three expandable storage variants of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.
For photography, the Galaxy Note 8 sports a pair of 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens. Both the lenses support Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), making it a first in a smartphone. Up front, the smartphone houses an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling.
The Galaxy Note 8 is fueled by a 3,300mAh battery with fast charging support, both wired and wireless. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G, VoLTE and USB Type-C port. On the software front, it runs Android Nougat 7.1.1 out-of-the-box.
