Micromax Canvas Infinity likely to launch on August 22 featuring Galaxy S8-like 18:9 display

In line with the recent leak about Micromax working on a smartphone with infinity display, the company has now sent out invites for a launch event on August 22. Though the teaser does not mention the smartphone’s name, it is beyond obvious that it would be the Canvas Infinity.

What confirms it to be the Canvas Infinity is the tagline in the invite that reads, “Let’s put a number to infinity”. Earlier leaks have teased Micromax to be working on a smartphone with a 5.7-inch display, which will feature an aspect ratio of 18:9. That is similar to the ‘Infinity Display’ the Samsung Galaxy S8 duo feature.

If that comes true, Micromax will become the first Indian smartphone manufacturer to adopt the new 18:9 aspect ratio. To recall, LG was the first brand that came up with the new aspect ratio known as FullVision, when it launched the LG G6. Samsung followed suit with its Infinity display with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.

Beside that, the mentioned leak had also revealed an alleged photo of the Canvas Infinity, which showed off the front of the device, placed next to a Samsung Galaxy S8. The purported Micromax Canvas Infinity featured thin side bezels, with tiny upper and lower bezels as well. However, in comparison to Samsung Galaxy S8, the smartphone looked broader.

The image also revealed the volume rocker and power button placed on the smartphone’s right, while the micro-USB port and the microphone sat at the bottom. The Micromax Canvas Infinity has also been speculated to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, however, the processor series is unknown at the moment.
