Nokia 8 may have been revealed in International Cat Day video

HMD Global may have showcased the final design of its upcoming smartphone, Nokia 8. International Cat Day was observed globally on August 8, and HMD Global took part by posting a video on its official Facebook page. The video shows a Nokia smartphone with multiple cat photos. The smartphone is speculated to be the Nokia 8, since the design is akin to what’s been leaked so far.

Compared to the existing Nokia Android smartphones, the Nokia 8 would be sporting a very similar look. Confirming past leaks, this video shows a Nokia smartphone with thick bezels above and below the display, and almost no bezel on the sides. The smartphone houses a home button with capacitive touch buttons on both sides. The volume rocker and power button can be seen on the right side of the smartphone. Leaked renders have shown the Nokia 8’s front camera lens placed left to the ear piece, and the Nokia branding on the right. This video shows the same details. However, the Nokia 5 also has the same front camera placement so it’s still arguable whether the video features the Nokia 8.

HMD Global is expected to launch the Nokia 8 at an event in London on August 16. The upcoming smartphone is touted to be HMD Global’s flagship smartphone, and its specifications are the highlight here. The Nokia 8 is expected to feature either a 5.3-inch or 5.7-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution. It could most likely be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC.

In terms of memory, the smartphone is expected to launch with 4GB of RAM or 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. For photography, the Nokia 8 is highly expected to feature a Carl Zeiss-branded dual-camera setup at the back. This speculation comes from HMD Global’s recent partnership with Carl Zeiss for Nokia smartphones. This dual camera module could be a pair of 13-megapixel cameras, one with a monochrome sensor and the other with RGB sensor. More details on the Nokia 8 include Android 7.1.1 Nougat, USB Type-C port, and a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button.
