With the Samsung Galaxy Note 8's unveiling this coming Wednesday pretty much a sure thing, Samsung has started rolling out updates for its personal assistant Bixby on a global basis. Updates to Bixby, Bixby Global Action, Bixby Dictation, Bixby Wakeup and Bixby PLM have been seen in markets such as the U.K., South Africa, India, Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, Argentina, Afghanistan, Iran, the UAE, Australia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Pakistan. While compatible handsets in those markets received the updates, Samsung still needs to press the button that will allow these Bixby related features to start working in the aforementioned markets.

Samsung could be getting ready to activate Bixby Voice in countries outside of the U.S. and South Korea, where it is already operational. There is some speculation that Bixby Voice will be enabled globally on August 22nd, the day before the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is announced. One report has the dictation feature working now in Germany, although the quality of the transcription apparently was nothing to write home about (okay, okay; pun intended). In other markets where the update was pushed out yesterday, like the U.K., the feature is not working.
If you want to see whether or not the dictation feature is working for you, and you don't live in the U.S. or South Korea, press the Bixby key on your Samsung default QWERTY and start dictating. If it doesn't work (which is likely), try again after Samsung unveils the latest version of its high-end phablet. The odds favor that it will work after the Galaxy Note 8 is introduced to the public.
