Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 users start receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update

Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update for Redmi Note 4X users in Greece. The update comes in line with the company’s recent announcement of the confirmed smartphones receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update soon. The list included Redmi Note 4X, which was launched as Redmi Note 4 in India. Flipkart had also teased the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Redmi Note 4 in India, although a specific date wasn’t mentioned.
Redmi Note 4 users in Greece posted screenshots of the Android 7.0 Nougat on the Facebook group, “Greek Xiaomi Lovers” (spotted by GSMArena). The update is sized 1.3GB and features MIUI 8.5 along with Google’s Android July security patch. The smartphone will also receive the MIUI 9 update on August 11 along with the Mi 6. With Android Nougat released now, it shouldn’t be long before MIUI 9 starts rolling out for the Redmi Note 4.

The Redmi Note 4 along with the Redmi 4 are the best selling smartphones under Rs 10,000 in India, according to Counterpoint. The Redmi Note 4 starts at Rs 9,999 for the base variant. The smartphone is available in three variants of 2GB RAM plus 32GB storage, 3GB RAM plus 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM plus 64GB storage. The storage can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card.

Continuing with its specifications, the smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full HD display. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz. For photography, the Redmi Note 4 packs a 13-megapixel rear camera of f/2.0 aperture and PDAF. Up front, it houses a 5-megapixel front camera of f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone is fuelled by a 4,100mAh battery, and offers connectivity options like dual SIM support, 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.1. The smartphone currently runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based MIUI 8.
