Android 7.0 for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge to bring Grace UX and improved features

Samsung is already testing Android 7.0 Nougat builds on the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, according to a report from a couple of days ago. But what is in the new software? Will you only find the improvements that Google's baked in, or is Samsung prepping some goodies of its own?

The Korea Times reports that Samsung is planning to issue its first Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Galaxy Note 7 and it will supposedly arrive two to three months after its arrival in late August. That puts the release firmly in Q4.

Samsung is currently testing the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge Android 7.0 Nougat updates though this doesn’t mean that a release for these two devices is imminent. It could be months before the company is done with its internal testing.

According to SamMobile, Samsung will apparently bring the Grace UX that debuted in the Galaxy Note7 to the S7 and S7 edge alongside the Nougat update. The new UI will be joined by the expanded feature set for the Always On Display, which was also first seen in the Note7.

The new UI is reportedly performing better (or smoother) on the Galaxy S7 and the S7 edge than the software they're currently loaded with. That's certainly good news for owners of the flagship duo, yet it's unclear if the enhanced performance is thanks to Samsung's new interface, the underlying new Android release, or both of these factors. Either way, Nougat should be on its way to the S7 and S7 edge in a few months.

The Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will reportedly be first in line to the Android Nougat update.

T-Mobile’s confirmed Nougat updates for the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

All of these updates are currently in the “Manufacturer Development” which means they still have a long way to go before they are released to the public.
