Motorola Moto E3 could launch in India on September 19: Price, specifications and features

Back in July Lenovo-owned Motorola had launched the successor of last year’s Moto E2 smartphone, called as Moto E3. The company is reportedly set to launch the smartphone in India very soon. According to reports, the Moto E3 is scheduled to launch on September 19 and is expected to be available for purchase later this month. The smartphone brings a much-needed hardware upgrades compared to its predecessor. Running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, the smartphone comes with a 5-inch HD display with smudge-resistant screen protection.

Motorola has also worked on its camera and given the new Moto E3 an upgrade. The smartphone now sports an 8-megapixel rear camera compared to 5-megapixel on the Moto E2, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The Moto E3 also features a splash-proof body to protect it from accidental spills. This is one feature that had been there on the earlier Moto G and Moto E smartphones, but was unfortunately missing from the latest Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus.

The Moto E3 is priced at $131 in the US (£99 in the UK), which roughly around Rs 8,900. It is worth noticing that back in August; the Moto E3 was spotted on Zauba, India’s import-export site, with the same price tag.

Moto E3 Specifications and features

The smartphone flaunts a slightly larger 5-inch IPS HD (720p) display as compared to 4.5-inch one on the Moto E (2015). Under the hood runs a quad-core processor. However, there is no word on whether it is a Qualcomm or MediaTek chipset. Also, while details about the RAM and onboard storage are missing, the smartphone does include a microSD card slot for further expansion. The smartphone comes with 2,800mAh battery. On the connectivity front the smartphone include Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS and dual-SIM 4G LTE.

In comparison, last year’s Moto E (2nd Gen) featured a 4.5-inch qHD IPS LCD display, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 quad-core 64-bit processor, 1GB RAM, 5-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, 8GB internal storage, microSD card slot, and a 2,390mAh battery.

Recently, another variant of the Moto E3, called the Moto E3 Power was spotted online. While the details remain scarce at the moment, we just know that the Moto E3 Power will come with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. It will also be equipped with a bigger 3,500mAh battery. The company has not made any official confirmation about unveiling both the smartphones in India on September 19.
