Apple discontinues 16GB iPad in India, introduces 256GB version

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are available in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB variants and will be launching in India on October 7. Prices for the iPhone 7 will start at Rs. 60,000, but the cost of the rest of the variants is not yet known.

However, iPhones were not the only ones to get these storage variants. Apple’s iPad models too have been upgraded to the same storage specifications.

As seen on the Apple India website, the iPad Pro models (12.9-inch and 9.7-inch), iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, and iPad Mini 2 will now come with 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB inbuilt storage capacity variants. Also Apple discontinues iPhone 5s, 6 and 6 Plus in India.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi variant is available in 32GB, 128GB and 256GB versions, while its Wi-Fi+Cellular version will be available in 128GB and 256GB versions only. Both the 9.7-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi+Cellular variants come in the same three storage options.

For the The iPad Air 2, both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+Cellular models are now available in 32GB and 128GB storage options. iPad Mini 4 too comes in an exactly similar configuration. However, the iPad Mini 2 Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+Cellular versions are available only in the 32GB storage variant.

It is worth noting that while the 32GB and 128GB versions of the iPad models were already available in India, the 256GB will be the only new addition for users. The price of the particular model will definitely be more than the 128GB. So if you are looking out for the cheapest 16GB iPad model, go buy it before the stocks last.

The company has also ditched the 64GB storage variant on both the iPhone and iPad devices.
