Lenovo Phab 2 smartphone, featuring a 6.4-inch display and 4050mAh battery, was launched in India on Tuesday. Priced at Rs. 11,999, the Lenovo Phab 2 will be available in India starting Friday and will be come in Gunmetal Grey and Champagne Gold colours. As teased earlier, the Lenovo Phab 2 will be available via Flipkart.
The company already unveiled the Phab 2 Plus in India last month priced at Rs. 14,999, though there is still no word when Lenovo plans to launch the Phab 2 Pro, the Tango-ready phone, in India.
To refresh, the Lenovo Phab 2 is a Phab 2 Plus variant with some downgrades. The Phab 2 sports a lower resolution screen, camera is also downgraded, and there is no fingerprint scanner on the handset. The phablet not only supports Dolby ATMOS, but also comes with support for Dolby audio capture 5.1. The company also says that with 360-degree noise cancellation, conference calls and voice recording are tailored for maximum clarity.
Lenovo PHAB 2 specifications and features
The Lenovo PHAB 2 flaunts a 6.4-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS display with 227ppi, and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT8735 quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. There is 32GB internal storage on offer, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
In the photography department, in place of the dual-camera setup seen on the PHAB 2 Plus, Lenovo has opted for a single rear camera setup on the PHAB 2. The new smartphone features a 13-megapixel snapper at the back with f/2.0 aperture, and Phase Detection Auto-focus (PDAF) support. One of the talking points of the camera is the ability to click photos with Augmented Reality effects. This functionality is pretty similar to what Sony has been offering on its Xperia smartphones. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens.
Courtesy of the big form factor, the PHAB 2 features a big 4,050mAh battery underneath. Lenovo says that the battery is good enough to deliver 32 hours of talktime and up to 14 days on standby mode. Surprisingly, the smartphone misses out on a fingerprint scanner, which has become a norm in this segment. Connectivity options for the PHAB 2 include 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and 3.5mm audio jack. On the software front, the phablet runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0, and is preloaded with apps like McAfee Security, Netflix, and SwiftKey among others.
