In May this year, Asus launched the Zenfone 3 series of smartphones. And now the company has already started preparing for its next year’s products. Asus has started sending media invites for a ‘Zennovation’ event on January 4 at 11.30AM PST( 1AM IST) at the CES 2017.
Asus hasn’t revealed which device it will be showcasing at the CES 2017. While the media invite doesn’t reallly reveal anything major but it does hint that the device could be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. According to a few reports, the company might launch a new smartphone running Qualcomm’s latest 835 processor and is likely to be a high-end one. Though there is very less chance that the company might unveil the Zenfone 4 series so soon. Jerry Shen, CEO of Asus, has confirmed that the Zenfone 4 series will launch sometime in mid-2017. Though there have been rumors Asus may unveil the Google Tango-based smartphone at the CES 2017.
As for the Zenfone 3, it was launch back in May in two variants. The ZE520KL comes with 5.2-inch display, 32GB onboard storage, 3GB RAM and 2,650mAh battery. The ZE552KL comes with 5.5-inch display, 64GB onboard storage, 4GB RAM and 3,000mAh battery. Rest f the specifications are same. Under the hood the smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 64-bit octa-core chipset clocked at 2GHz paired with Adreno 506 GPU. On the camera front, the Zenfone 3 comes with a 16-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture, laser auto-focus, and support for PDAF and OIS. Up front there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. On the software front, it runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 wrapped under the ZenUI 3.0.
