Xiaomi Mi S with 4.6-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 821 SoC, 4GB RAM leaked: Specifications, features

Xiaomi drew the entire world's attention with its Mi MIX smartphone when the company announced it in October. The smartphone earned a nod from most tech critics thanks to its bezel-less design on three sides. The company has now been tipped to launch a smartphone, which might not sound as exciting as Mi MIX, but packs a capable Snapdragon 821 SoC and 4GB of RAM.

The Chinese company is rumoured to be working on the Xiaomi Mi S smartphone, as per renders leaked on Weibo, reports AndroidPure. Even though the authenticity of the leak remains to be verified, the renders on the Chinese website provide detailed hardware specifications of the smartphone.

Xiaomi Mi S specifications and features

The Xiaomi Mi S is said to feature a 4.6-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display with 600 nits brightness, and 2.5D curved glass on top. Under the hood will be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. There will also be 128GB onboard storage on offer, but there is currently no word on whether there will be a microSD card slot.

For photography, the smartphone is expected to be equipped with a 12-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, Sony IMX378 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, phase detection auto-focus, and 4K video capturing capabilities. This image sensor incidentally is also present on the Google Pixel, and we all know just how good its camera is. Up front, the Mi S is likely to feature a 4-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, and 1080p video recording capabilities.

The Mi S is also expected to feature a 2,600mAh battery with support for Quick Charging 3.0, a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button up front, and connectivity options like 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port.

There is currently no word on the pricing or a launch date for the Xiaomi Mi S. Looking at the quality of the promotional materials, it is difficult to say just how authentic they are, so we will advice the usual dose of caution. Nonetheless, we must admit, the Mi S seems like an interesting device, and just what users with smaller hands crave.
