OnePlus launched the OnePlus 3 in June, and just over five months later, the company has launched a souped-up version of its flagship smartphone. The OnePlus 3T was unveiled a couple of weeks back, and today it has been launched in India. Prices start from Rs 29,999, and the smartphone will be going on sale via Amazon India from December 14. The 64GB variant is priced at Rs 29,999, while the 128GB variant is priced at Rs 34,999.
The company has instead focused on updating the internals, and one of the biggest changes is in what powers the OnePlus 3T. The OnePlus 3 was powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 quad-core (2.2GHz dual-core + 1.6GHz dual-core) paired with Adreno 530 GPU. The OnePlus 3T, on the other hand, is powered by Qualcomm’s newer Snapdragon 821 quad-core (2.35GHz dual-core + 1.6GHz dual-core) processor paired with Adreno 530 GPU.
This also brings us to the next big change — battery. The OnePlus 3T features a bigger 3,400mAh battery, as opposed to the 3,000mAh unit on the OnePlus 3.
OnePlus 3T specifications and features
The OnePlus 3T flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Optic AMOLED display protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4. The Snapdragon 821 processor is paired with 6GB of RAM.
On the photography front, OnePlus hasn’t tweaked a lot to the primary camera, which is still a 16-megapixel snapper with Sony IMX 298 image sensor, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF support, and 4K video recording capabilities. Up front though, instead of an 8-megapixel snapper, the OnePlus 3T features a 16-megapixel fixed-focus selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording capabilities.
The OnePlus 3T also features a fingerprint scanner embedded into the home button up front, an Alert Slider on the side, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card (nano) slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS. The OnePlus 3T runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Oxygen OS, and will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat later this year.
