Nokia smartphones will receive Android O update: HMD Global

HMD Global’s Nokia-branded Android smartphones — Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 — are yet to go on sale in global markets. While the Nokia 3310 feature phone has reached India, the other three Android smartphones are widely expected to arrive sometime later this month. HMD Global has now announced that all its three Nokia smartphones will be receiving the Android O update. Google will be releasing the next Android version, Android O around September.

HMD Global hasn’t publically made this announcement but has confirmed this with TechRadar. A spokesperson from HMD Global has told the publication that the Nokia smartphones will be receiving the Android O update soon after its release. The possible arrival date has not been confirmed though, and it could take months for the Android O update to hit the Nokia smartphones. All the three Nokia smartphones currently run on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
