OnePlus 5 to launch in India on June 22, new leaked image shows dual cameras

Just yesterday, OnePlus revealed on Twitter that this year’s flagship killer, the OnePlus 5 will be launched on June 20. Just two days after the China launch, the OnePlus 5 will make its way to India, with the launch date confirmed for June 22. OnePlus India, via its official Twitter handle has revealed that the OnePlus 5 will launch on June 22 at an event scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM in Mumbai. OnePlus will also be livestreaming the event which can be viewed by clicking on this link.

This year, the teaser image for the OnePlus 5 has the message, “Focus on what matters”. OnePlus is speculated to be hinting at specific features on the camera with this message. The OnePlus 5 has been rumored and leaked on multiple occasions to feature a dual camera setup. The word ‘focus’ here could be hinting at the depth-of-field effect that the dual-camera setup on the OnePlus 5 is likely to feature. This will be similar to the iPhone 7 Plus’ Portrait Mode which allows users to achieve a bokeh effect on photos. Moreover, OnePlus has teamed up with DxO for the camera technology on the OnePlus 5, only increasing the anticipation on what the flagship will bring.

In an image posted by Android Authority, there is a OnePlus 5 with dual cameras lined up horizontally. The image, which is seemingly the render of the actual and final phone, also shows rounded edges that look different from the curves the OnePlus 3T has. The fresh image also shows that the OnePlus 5 will look different compared to the OnePlus 3T.

The launch of the OnePlus 5 in India comes only after two days of its official unveiling, which is fairly close to global availability and information. OnePlus has been heavily focused on its flagship especially in India. OnePlus even announced the discontinuation of its present flagship, the OnePlus 3T globally, but OnePlus India stated that the OnePlus 3T will be available till later in 2017, and will be sold alongside the OnePlus 5. What remains now is the official unveiling which will finally put an end to all the leaks and rumors, and also show what the fuss is all about with this year’s ‘flagship killer’.

In terms of specifications, the OnePlus 5 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch full HD display. The smartphone could launch in two variants in terms of memory. Some reports suggest a 6GB RAM plus 64GB storage variant and others hint on a possible 8GB RAM plus 128GB storage variant. On the software front, the OnePlus 5 will most likely run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with OxygenOS on top. The smartphone could be fuelled by a 3,300mAh battery along with the company’s Dash Charge technology.
