Moto X Pure Edition aka Moto X Style gets Android 7.0 Nougat update

Motorola has announced the roll out of Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Moto X Pure Edition. The smartphone, which launched in 2015, is known as the Moto X Style in the markets outside the US. The announcement comes shortly after Motorola began a soak test for the Android 7.0 Nougat for the smartphone.

While the update is being rolled out gradually, you can always check for the new update by visiting Settings on your phone. Then tap on About Phone and then on System updates. If there’s an update, you are good to go. Motorola has an important disclaimer if you are planning on updating your phone — “you cannot downgrade to a previous software version after installing this update.”

That being said, the Android 7.0 Nougat update brings in a slew of features and improvements. This includes an improved multi-tasking, split-screen, Doze mode, data saving, improved quick settings menu, and native call blocking among others. You can check out the complete log of the new features that the Android 7.0 update will bring here.

Motorola had released a comprehensive list of the smartphones that will receive the update in January this year. The list did include the Moto X Pure Edition as well. Even though the smartphone is two-year-old, it’s good to see Motorola fulfilling promising of providing the update to the phone. Though Google will be soon unveiling Android O this year. It will be interesting to see if Motorola is able to bring its older phones onboard with the latest software update.
