Vivo sends out invite for April 27 event in India; Vivo V5s launch expected

Vivo seems all all set to launch a new smartphone in India in its V5 series. The Chinese company has sent out media invites for a launch event on April 27, and going by the teaser, the upcoming smartphone too will be selfie specific. While Vivo has been mum about its plans, reports claim it could launch the Vivo V5s.

The Vivo V5s essentially shares the same set of specifications as the Vivo V5, albeit with a few differences in specifications and features, Phoneradar reports. Notably, the upcoming handset will only be available in black color. The Vivo V5 was launched in India for Rs 17,999, and the company followed it up with the Vivo V5 Plus, priced at Rs 25,990. As per reports, the Vivo V5s is likely to launch at a price tag around the Rs 20,000 mark.

The highlight of Vivo V5 series is undoubtedly the camera, and the same is expected of the Vivo V5s as well. Touted as the ‘perfect selfie’ camera smartphone, the Vivo V5s is expected to feature a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. The primary camera is likely to be a 13-megapixel sensor with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture and dual-tone LED flash.

Vivo V5s Specifications and Features

From what we know so far, Vivo V5s will feature an all-metal unibody design. It will flaunt a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display with 2.5D curved glass on the top. The handset is expected to be powered by a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core SoC paired with 4GB RAM. There will be 64GB onboard storage, as well as the option to expand it using a microSD card.

The rest of the features expected include a 3,000mAh battery, fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots (hybrid setup), 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and 3.5 mm audio port. On the software front, it could run on Android Marshmallow 6.0-based FunTouch OS 2.6.
