The numbers suggested are only for South Korea, and the global numbers are still unknown. DJ Koh, Head of Samsung’s Mobile Business said while addressing a Press Meet, “The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ reached 728,000 units, as of Wednesday, in Korea. We are aiming to sell 1 million units before officially launching the smartphone.”
Samsung Galaxy S8 pre-orders figures are much higher than its predecessor, Samsung Galaxy S7, according to Samsung. The 1 million mark target was set by Samsung and the company seems to have achieved the mark, despite initial hesitations. After the Galaxy Note 7 disaster, the pressure on Samsung intensified, and the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were touted as the ‘make-it-or-break-it’ devices for the brand. Samsung is also offering a free DeX station with pre-orders of 128GB/6GB version in certain markets.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will be launching in India tomorrow, but the pricing and availability details are not known yet. In the US, the smartphones are priced at $720 (Rs 47,000 approximately), and $840 (Rs 54,500 approximately) respectively. The actual pricing after launch though is expected to be higher.
