Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 Android smartphones could be released in May, New Nokia 3310 in April


Since its launch at MWC 2017, HMD Global owned Nokia has reserved Q2 2017 for its Android smartphones global launch. Since then, we have been hearing about HMD Global launching the Nokia 3, 5 and 6 Android smartphones simultaneously across 120 markets. While there is still no confirmation on a particular launch date yet, new report confirms that Nokia will stick to its summer launch plans only.

Spotted by neowin, the rumor which was attributed to Chinese website Vtech essentially talked about the devices’ release dates in Malaysia. However, the report suggests that the first phone to launch will be the refresh classic – the Nokia 3310. The phone is said to launch in Malaysia at the end of April, while the other three smartphones will be available starting May. First to launch will be the Nokia 3, which is expected to be released at the beginning of the month, the Nokia 5 in the middle of the month, and lastly, the Nokia 6 will see its international release at the end of May.

To recap the specifications, the new Nokia 3310 has been redesigned and now offers 10 times more battery power than the original model. It boasts 22 hours of talktime and up to one month of standby. As a bonus, the company has also added the Snake game in the new Nokia 3310. 

Nokia 6 saw an early release in January 2017, however remained limited to China. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. It packs a 5.5 inch Full HD display in an aluminum unibody design along with a fingerprint scanner. In terms of optics, Nokia 6 features a 16-megapixel camera on the rear panel, and an 8-megapixel camera on the front. Nokia 6 will retail for approximately Rs 16,999 corresponding to its European pricing at Euro 229.

The Nokia 3 runs on a quad core Mediatek MTK 6737 SoC coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. It is priced at Euro 139 (approximately Rs 9,999) and packs a 5-inch HD IPS display in a polycarbonate build. The device has an 8-megapixel primary and secondary camera.

The mid-range Nokia 5, on the other hand, runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset and sports a 5.2-inch HD (720p) IPS display. The handset has a 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, expandable via microSD card. It has a 13-megapixel camera on the rear, and an 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calling. Nokia 5 will retail at Euro 189, which roughly translates to Rs 13,999. 

Also, Nokia extends premium experience to all of the three handsets, irrespective of the prices and these handsets come with 2.5D curved glass on top. Nokia 3, 5 and 6 run on Android Nougat 7.0 and the company promises of fast security and platform updates.
