Samsung’s new Chromebook Plus, and Chromebook Pro feature built-in Google Play Store out-of-the-box. In other words, you will now be able to easily install and use Android apps on the new Chromebooks. Samsung has also built-in smartphone-like accelerometers and gyroscopes, which will let you interact with motion-controlled Android apps on the Chromebooks.
Another talking point of the new Chromebooks is a 360-degree rotating LED touchscreen display, which runs at QHD (2400×1600 pixels) resolution. The rotating functionality will let you use the Chromebook as a laptop, or flip it to use as a touchscreen tablet. Samsung has also for the first time added stylus support on the Chromebooks. The digital pen slots in on the side, and is useful for taking notes, and more.
“With the Chromebook Plus and Pro, we’re partnering with Google to pair a sleek design with supreme flexibility, encouraging users to experience more with Google Play and Android apps, while continuing to provide simplicity, top-rated security and shareability inherent in Chromebooks,” Alanna Cotton, vice president of product marketing at Samsung Electronics America said.
The Chromebook Plus is priced at $449 (Rs 30,500 approximately), and it is set to go on sale in February. The Chromebook Pro, on the other hand, is set to go on sale sometime later this year.
